Hello

I want to make the relay of a fingerprint device enable the smart implant. Does someone know if it's possible? Here it is the output from the relay in the device

I'm trying to make NO or NC enable smart implant when someone makes an access at this device. But even with the configurations of smart implant is not working. Can someone help me with this application?

Thanks so much

The short answer is to connect the green input wire to the NO (normally Open) wire of your print reader and make sure the implant and the reader are using the same ground. The first picture shows the devices wired in series from the print reader, to the implant, to the door lock.

If you don't want the implant to be a point of failure between the print reader and the door lock you can wire the print reader in parallel  with the implant, directly to the reader. If the implant fails the reader still works. The second picture shows one way to do that.

There is a problem that if  you want to wire them in parallel you have to do something to be notified that the print reader is actuating. You can use input 1 for that but you will need to prevent a situation where output 1 can be actuated and provide a trigger to input 1. That would forever hold the relay actuated. To solve this you could:

  • In the UI you can disable their internal connection between input 1 and output 1. There will be no implicit indication if the implant opened the lock or the reader opened it, you just will know there is a ground signal on input one. You would have to code it to figure it out.
  • OR Use channel 1 for actuating the lock and channel 2 for detecting the print reader's actuation. That is how I have my house wired along with a sc011 inside the house so that no one can use a paperclip to hotwire the print reader from outside.
