Question

Posted

The HC2 is no longer available in the US. I expect that is a case since retailers do not sock the item, distributors will not talk to me, and there is no response from Fibaro US. Is there a way to change the frequency on  an EU device? I have a dead US model.

Just move forward and buy HC3 or HCL3 or Yubii. Hopefully Fibaro has US frequency models.

Believe me it is a cheaper option... have been there, I mean trying to change Z-wave frequency.

@cag014

According to the Fibaro user manuals, HC3, HCL3, and Yubii Home are not avaliable with the USA z-wave frequency.

Try to get a second hand HC2.

from Australia... no idea how to order US frequency

Australia has a different zwave frequency to the US. And I don't think you can change the frequency ... as a general zwave comment "The frequency is determined at the factory when the antenna is installed and cannot be changed after that".

Someone here wrote something about approval for use in the US was still pending, so go with what Fabir wrote

Yes, I know, but US frequency is on the list, so maybe somehow it could be ordered.

By the way may be another idea. Recently I have found that Z-Box is join venture between Zooz and Fibaro. They state that code from Fibaro market works on the box.

And it looks like this box on sale in US only... take a look

It says powered by Fibaro ????  Please wach the video on the site. By the way it looks almost exactly as HC3 lite

By searching on the site - HC2 is available for PRO PORTAL users, have no idea what it means. Call them...

Yes, it is. See also the Fibaro Marketplace where the Z-Box is already mentioned (just like Venture Wise).

This acquisition has taken too long and hopefully they do not destroy what was good on the first place.
I do have a Fibaro HC3 and when you access it with a monitor, keyboard, and a mouse you find a Linux asterix console.  There is a setting for the region for the EU.  I have inspected a HC2 for the USA and the variable is "US".

Unfortunately, I am no linux user ... but I am getting impatient and might try to get someone to edit this file.

Editing some code on your HC3 won't allow you to change the zwave frequency - pretty sure it's hard coded in the hardware.
