Garden Watering - configuration problems

Question

Posted

Hi All,

So I'm building watering system for my garden.

I have 5 sections, each section is using Hunter 24V AC valve

I have 3x double switch 2 - 5 sections means I have one contact 'free' - this will be used for controlling the water pump.

I also have a transformer 230VAC=>24VAC and 5 230V Relays.

Each valve is powered by 24VAC supplied by transformer via relay. The relay is switched on/off by one of the double switch contacts.

All of this works fine but problem is the water supply.

I have a well and the pump. The pump needs to be switched on, every time any valve opens and closed when valve closes.

I thought this can be setup in virtual sprinkler configuration (the one where you can choose sprinkler devices and combine them into one) - but no... Once you add switch as a sprinkler, it disappears and can not be added to another sprinkler...I was hoping for something like:

switch1+switch2+pump=sprinkler1

switch3+switch4+switch5+pump=sprinkler2

Unfortunately once the pump switch is added to sprinkler1 it is not visible to be added to sprinkler2...

So do you have any advice ? How to start my pump when valved are opening?

just create a scene triggered by all valves (means the double switches states), so if one of them is open , turn on the pump. When all of them are OFF, shutdown the pump.

    Halo and thank you,

Yes, I was thinking about it, but I see one potential issue.

With enabling - no problem - when the scene discovers valve is open (meaning there is open passage/flow for the water, it enables the pump. That is ok.

But issue is with closing. If the valve is closed first, then the pump is still running, and the pressure in the pipeline will rise very high (the pump gives 8 bar and 6000 liters/h). And we know the time between closing the valve and running the scene and shutting down the pump can easily go to a few seconds. Maybe the pipeline will not explode on the first time, but giving a few runs a day, it will be over pressurized very often and eventually give up.

    So I need the sequence

for start: first the valve open then the pump start

for finish: first the pump stop then the valve close

    just like you said

    open valve turnOn pump

    setTimer

    turnOff pump

    close valve
