Door/Motion Sensor for mailbox

stivi

Question

Hi all,

I'd like to try and use the Door/motion sensor to see if the mailbox door has been opened. I have associated a new door/window sensor with my HC3 to test but now it is sitting in a "breached" state and I have no idea how to get it out of that state? Do I need to create a scene for it reset? Even if I put the magnet close to the sensor it doens't go back.

Thank you,

Stefan

@stivi

The Fibaro FGDW-002 Door/Window device has no motion sensor. Is comes with a small magnet delivered. In the closed position the magnet has to sit at the right position, in order to have the status "not breached". No scene is necessary to get this status.

It has also a temperatur- and a tamper-sensor.

I've also mounted a door/windows sensor at my mailbox. Mounting the magnet at the right position was a bit difficult. Look below about the magnet postion. The user manual is

No, you don't need any scene to get it's state updated. First check your contacts position as @Fabir mentioned, secondly, if your states doesn't change properly, and you are sure that inclusion was succesfull, i would say, that it is probably a distance issue. (Of course the faulty device is also an option). Isn't your sensor too far from the gateway, or any other zwave repeater device? You can make a test. Try manually move the magnet closer, further and check if is reported to gateway.

  • Thank you for the response. I guess the notification for the forum didn't work so apologize for the late response.

So I tested what you had mentioned and I positioned the magnet within 5mm but the status doesn't move from Breached to Not Breached.

Would it be related to the wake up interval that is set in the settings?

    Thank you,

    Stefan

@stivi No the wakeup settings doesn't matter in this case.

    Things you can try:

    -Check the battery

    -Restart hc

    -Soft reconfiguration

-Exclude / include the device again with / without security.

Thank you I will give it a try! Its a brand new device so I hope the battery is not the issue but I'll try to replace it.

    Much appreciated
