SSL Certificate

Trikkitt

Question

I'm trying to secure my home network as best I can. That means establishing a proper PKI infrastructure, all be it using fairly limited technologies such as an off-line RaspberryPi to be my certificate authority.  I'm now going through each of my devices and installing a certificate issued by my CA.  I've come to the HomeCenter Lite and I'm struggling, I can't see anywhere to install a custom SSL certificate!  The only option appears to be to download a trusted root certificate, but given I've no idea who has the private key for such a certificate I won't install it.  The whole fundamental purpose of PKI is that the root CA private key is very well protected. The private key of this root CA could be anywhere, I don't even know if it is unique to my device - and even if it is, then my device if it is ever compromised could then be used to generate trusted certificates.

Where can I find the option to install my own custom certificate signed by my own secure, offline, CA?  Is this an option?  If not then it is a terribly insecure architecture that that totally ignores basic security fundamentals of PKI.  But if i've missed something I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
