Fibaro Dimmer2 - 230V input for S1, S2 possible?

Hello,

I wonder what the potential of Sx is? I have an existing wiring for a remote/impulse switch in the hall and would like to replace it with a dimmer2.

However, the manual says that Sx must be connected via the switch to input S1 or S2 which would require me to add some wires.
Would it also be possible to use 230V (L) on the switch inputs S1 or S2?

Many thanks and best regards,
innerand

I think sx actually is the same as N if I remember right.

@Innerand

If you insist on activating phase L, you must choose the RELAY module, not the dimmer.

Sx seems to be live, or close.

Which makes the wiring of Sx to Neutral as shown in the diagrams a puzzle, because when I did it, it blew the fuse that I had inline.

Can anyone explain?

@Paul Ruskin What values was the fuse, what did you have attached for the consumption? I assume that we still have two wiring wiring as in the pictures.

I had some problems tripping a circuit breaker, so I tried on a test setup (different dimmer with fewer black bits!).  3A fuse and 5W LED.  Dimmer 2 connected as per diagram above in Brors94's post.

Blew the fuse twice until I stopped trying to make Sx neutral.  Sx measures as full live volts on a multimeter, too.

There's a post elsewhere on  the Forum saying that the Sx is basically live.  That's consistent with the way other Fibaro devices work (eg Roller Shutter) where they are presumably short of terminals, so you connect the other end of the switches to live.

@Paul Ruskin If you have it connected exactly according to the picture, then I guess there will be a problem with the LED. It is either defective or not dimmable.

For verification, I recommend connecting a classic halogen bulb

 @Martin_NThere's no problem with the LED.  If I don't connect Sx to Neutral, the fuse doesn't blow, and the dimmer works fine with the LED load.

I've found a post where someone had the same problem

Does anyone know what the input circuitry of the Dimmer 2 looks like?

@Martin_N

OK, problem solved I think.

The connection between N and Sx is for the 2 wire connection.  I was using a 3 wire connection, with a Neutral, and it definitely doesn't work in that case!

Thanks for responding.

ah... confession is a mitigating circumstance :)
