Power consumption exceeds 2500 W

Jelle86

Question

Hi all,

I recently bought a Fibaro Wall Plug to run a scene that notifies me on my phone when the program of my washing machine is finished. The Wall Plug can handle devices up to 2500W. I hooked it up and ran a quick program to test the scene. It worked like a charm.

I just started a regular program checked the power consumption chart. Quite often the power consumption exceeds the max of 2500W. Please find a chart attached below.

This leads to two questions:

1. Is there any risk in damaging the power plug this way?

2. Is there any risk in damaging my washing machine (and, is the amount of Watt 'capped' by the power plug limit, so that the washing machine gets less power than required)?

...or does it only affect the charts as shown in my Home Center 3?

Thanks for your help!

BTW I did find this topic, but only saw a few users stating that it works, but they do not go into detail about possible implications. I don't want things do get damaged or heat build up.

I have had this solution for years without any problems.

The Fibaro Wall Plug can handle 3000W instantaneous and 2500W continuous and your washing machine is not damaged by this.
A small tip is to code so that when the washing is done, the power is automatically switched off.

This reduces the risk of electrical problems.

This is what we do with the washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher.

In addition, a TTS message is sent to a tablet in the hallway informing you that the laundry or dishes are ready.

  • @RH_DreamboxThank you for sharing your experience. Good to know that this setup works without any problems. I have made two scripts so that I receive a push message from the Yubii app when the laundry is done.

I do not have included an 'off' switch for the device. It doesn't seem necessary and requires an additional action when restarting the machine, right? As the wall plug needs to be reactivated first?

Yes, that is correct. We just press the B button because the plug is just above the machine.

Just a curious off-topic question... how do you consider your laundry has done? No power consumption on the wall plug?

    Thanks in advance
