Can't get out of recovery HC2. Fibaro support ignores me

Question

Choosing exit from recovery or repair system gets me stuck in the start up sequence.

I've tried talking to support via e-mail (ticket 288347 incase Fibaro support sees this and tries to amend their ways). We were supposed to do a live session since they failed to ssh into my box. They cancelled support last minute after setting a date and have ignored me since. I tried calling their Brittish and Polish numbers and was stuck in que for over 40minutes without anyone answering.

I don't mind switching to a different controller (nonfibaro) but don't want to manually have to reset every device. I haven't tried option 4. Will the recover system option remove all my devices?

Is there a different way to get access to my current z wave devices?

Thanks

@karleksbarn Hello and welcome to the community.

Info about recovery for fibaro hc2 is

Please login or register to see this link.

You can try to reach fibaro under [email protected]

You don't need to reset every zwave device in your house. Every zwave controller has the ability to exclude a zwave device. Even if this device never was connected to this other controller.

So if you have another homecenter or zwave controller, start the exclude process on the controller and the zwave device.  After that, you can include the zwave device to the new controller.

As I mentioned I have actively been in contact with fibaro. They responded quickly until they were supposed to assist me after which they just stopped.

I'd use profane language, but I'd rather not get my post removed.

Thank you for your explanation. How do I exclude switches and plugs on the fibaro side? Assuming that I activate the exclusion feature on my new z wave device.

@karleksbarn I've never called fibaro so far. I've sent an email when I needed help from fibaro support. For me this has worked quite good.

In order to delete ghost zwave devices you can press the delete button on the previous homecenter. Before you have to power down the device you want to delete, otherwise this process won't work.

You're giving me contradicting information now.

First I said I can't access my current system to which you say I can exclude via another device. Then you're telling me to delete in the same hc that I can't access first...

As I said we talked via email continuously until the day I was supposed to get support. Then they cancelled and won't respond. I've sent like 5 e-mails. All of them courteous...

@karleksbarn OK, sorry. I tought you have already another zwave controller.

It depends what you want to do now. HC2 is EOL no more updates from fibaro.

If you want to go on with fibaro and if you can stay in the limits of the smaller homecenters, they are a good value. The bigger hc3 it quite expensive and only necessary, if you have this number of zwave of devices. The controller GUI is nice and the scenes are more versatile. A big downside for me is, that the newer gen3 fibaro homecenters, still don't have the same temperature and power energy panels for comparing sensors, as the gen2 homecenters have.

The small fibaro homcenters,  homenter 3 light and yubii home, also support lua script senes and cost only arount 100 Euro.  Below the table to compare the gen3 fibaro homecenters.

It should be added that it's not just the number of QuickApps, the 3 Lite can't use QuickApps that deal with 64bit integers - as the Lua on 3 Lite is compiled for 32bits. Several APIs from external devices have this and even some of the box's own APIs return

Please login or register to see this link.

    that is 64bits.

@jgab Thanks for the info. So far I haven't had a problem with the QA's I'm using, in this regard.

I appreciate the replies but fail to understand the point of out of topic posts...

Fibaro support is horrible and ignore my e-mails.

Fibaro phone support is nonexistant per my first post.

In conclusion giving fibaro more money is a bad idea.

I cannot get past recovery as my device gets stuck in boot up.

I am not interested in buying more products from a crappy company that refuses to help. I want to understand how I can access my devices or unpair them from fibaro without having access to my hc2 so that I can use a different controller. Please limit posts to this.

It's interesting to see that someone is actively removing my last comment. Perhaps fibaro support or mods? I said that the replies on this post are out of topic and are detracting from the problem. Filling the thread with posts unrelated to my issues.

Evidently someone is interested in keeping appearances.

Fibaro is not a good company and spending more money on their products is a bad idea.

    Hi @karleksbarn ,

What was the reason you enter recovery mode?

When HC2 was in recovery mode what did you do first? Did you initiated recovery, repair of the system or just click on recovery exit?

After exiting recovery mode, what did you see on HC2 front LEDs? Where they flashing from the left or from the right?

BTW - since software system version 4.6XX after flashing and turning on LEDs from the right and all LEDs are On then HC2 turn them all off seeming that HC2 turned off, but actually need to wait some time before right LEDs for POWER, NETWORK and INTERNET are turned on. This delay with all LEDs turned off depends on the system booting sequence and starting services.

If after LEDs flashing from the right and turning On one by one are turned off and power, network and internet LEDs are not turning on even after few minutes then booting sequence was not done. This can be caused by several things, CMOS battery is depleted on motherboard and needs to be replaced, motherboard does not work properly or USB stick with system software is faulty. Might be also caused by faulty power supply that still gives power, but not working properly.

If you remove cover that covers HC2 side where power supply and network cable is connected and see that LEDs on network connector are lit, but you can't see USB stick LED is flashing through the gap between motherboard side plate and housing then definitely system is not booting. In that case HC2 needs service. I do not think that Fibaro offer service for HC2 anymore, can ask them, since they actually never announced EOF (End Of Life) for HC2, but I believe HC2 is not in their focus anymore.

So, instead of wasting your and our time here by complaining on Fibaro support, I recommend to invest some time explaining what is going on with your HC2 and sharing as much as possible information so you might then get your problem solved.

I entered recovery because I was stuck in boot up (tried waiting over a day).

The usb stick solution was removed with a previous update. Afaik it isn't even needed at this point.

Like I mentioned in the previous posts I have tried the first three options (and even the fourth afterwards).

Regarding the LEDs I don't remember at this point. All of your suggestions are possible. I doubt I could get to recov with a faulty CMOS as I can also go to regular boot up but get stuck.

At this point it doesn't matter as I actually converted to HA and use an AEON stick to reset every single device.

Your remark is noted and there is some truth to it, but at this point I am not here seeking help. I reset and moved on from fibaro. This post is to illustrate how rude and inept FIBARO customer support is. How would you feel about the company if they just cancelled on the day of the live support scheduled event and started ignoring you afterwards?

Not the recovery stick that was connected outside. I was referring to the USB stick inside on which system is installed:

I know you moved from Fibaro to HA and that is OK. I'm posting this for other users that have left some patience and still hope to solve problem with their HC2.

BTW - You are not the only one to move from Fibaro to other solutions and  I wish you all the best and many happy hours with your new HA.
