Disappearing devices in HC2

Question

Posted (edited)

I have a problem with specific devices disappearing from HC2. The devices are Qubino Flush Shutter DC and this has happened multiple times for the same room. I have four of these devices in total across two rooms and in one of the rooms both devices have disappeared on a few occasions and in the other neighboring room everything works flawless. I'm controlling the roller shutters via a scene controlled by a wall switch (fiber dimmer 2) and they are used daily however once the devices are gone there's no trace of them in the event log either. There are several powered fiber devices in every room.

Not sure why this is happening, if I try to enter fibarohost/fibaro/sv/devices/configuration.html?id=XXX manually Im returned to the device page of HC2. I haven't configured anything in HC2 when this happens.

The devices are about 12-15m away from the HC2 and it is not possible to add them in the room where they are installed so I need to move them closer to the HC2 even though I use system wide inclusion. If I try to add them where they are installed HC2 usually ends up in an infinite "Requesting neighbors" loop.

Edit: tested a restore from a couple of weeks back when one of the two qubino devices were already gone, the strange thing was that both devices now reappeared however none of them are responding.

@PålW

 Things you can try:

-Mesh network reconfiguration (not reset)

-Soft reconfiguration of the devices with issues.

    The thing is that the devices completely disappear from the system so it’s not possible to reconfigure them :(

    Hi @PålW ,

    This disappearing of devices happened to me several times on HC2 since 2015. Mostly happened with Fibaro plug and Fibaro eye. In some cases, device was not visible anymore on the HC2 home page, like it was never included and in some cases device was still visible on home page but there was no communication with device. In first case when device was no more visible on the home page it was also reset, like it was actually removed from them system regular way.

    What I did is reset them using learning mode and then include them again. I can't say why this happening since devices that where suddenly removed from HC2 are both mains and battery powered and some where placed near HC2 while some far away.

    I do not have any Qubino devices, but my Aeotec AerQ sensor was removed once from the system unexpectedly, just I'm still not sure if it was by system itself or by me pressing button on it :-D

    I have 5 Qubino Flush Shutter DCs, operating flawlessly for 2 years.  Then recently, all within a few weeks, 3 of the devices progressively dropped off the network, with no obvious trigger (upgrades, power outages, config changes etc).  I could not do a soft reconfigure as the devices were no longer visible at all.  Re-including them always failed after many many attempts. In the end I moved my HC2 right next to the devices and did a re-include by triple clicking the button (making sure not to use Network Wide Inclusion in case this caused a problem) and this worked nearly straight away.  Then moved the HC2 back to normal location and did a zwave mesh reconfig (just for the affected devices).  Finally I updated any scenes with the new device IDs, and now they are working like they used toThere may be some ghost entries in certain registers but I ignore them.  Would be good to understand what causes this problem, so it can be fixed or avoided.  I had just assumed it was a dodgy Qubino implementation of z-wave or similar.

    After fixing the issues, it occured again on three of my 5 devices (different ones to last time).  So, I've fixed them again.  It's annoying because the attached temperature sensors also fail, which means our heating doesn't come on in the morning and the wife is not happy.

    Devices dropping off the network has only ever happened with my Qubino devices, not with any of my dozens of Fibaro devices.  I've logged a problem with Qubino but not expecting this will change anything.  I just wish that Fibaro had a low voltage DC version of the Roller Shutter device so I could ditch Qubino.
