Question

I have an Aeotec Power relay controlling the spa pool.  Since it is mounted outside, I can't use the built in switch on it.  So, next to the spa override switch, I have another switch with a Fibaro double switch.  It used to have an association to control the Aeotec relay directly.  It lost it a while ago, which happens a lot on my setup.

I cant remember how I had set it up, but when I try either of these -

  1. Endpoint 1, Group 1 -> Spa (S - Endpoint 0)
  2. Endpoint 0, Group 1 -> Spa (S - Endpoint 0)

it says "Adding, Pending" and then disappears.  So, I must have the config wrong.  There is only "Group 1" in the dropdown.

What association do I set up?

@RohitNz Association group 1 is always used for the zwave controller/hub

With your fibaro double switch you can use the on/off function:

Group 2 = S1 input

Group 4 = S2 input

both linked devices need to have direct zwave to zwave connection. Therefore check the neighbor list with zwave refresh and the history panel.

Also both devices need to have no security or the same security level. NS, S0 or S2

    Thanks, what is the endpoint?  As mentioned I cannot save EP0-G2, but I can save EP1-G2, which I already had.  But this isnt working.  Both devices are visible and not dead and not secured.  In fact, they are right next to each other.  And it used to work, some months ago.

    Hi @RohitNz ,

    Which Aeotec Power Switch you use? Can you provide exact info, since I can't find anything with that name on their website.

    I use Aeotec Heavy Duty switch to control my swimming pool pump and it is controlled by Virtual Device on my HC2. I avoided to use any direct associations between my devices since it is not really something to use when gateway is present.

    Regards Aeotec Heavy Duty switch do you test it in lower temperatures like -10 or -20 celcius? I'm asking as I would like to use them to control my Aircondition but spec says thats it cannot work in lower temp....

    Hi @akaGoolash ,

    My Aeotec HDS is installed in swimming pool machinery in plastic enclosure for several years now. During summer it works without problems on temperatures above 35⁰C. During winter, lowest temperature measured was around -2⁰C, and didn't notice any problems with it, even during winter pool is closed so HDS is sending power measurements only.

    I meant Heavy Duty Switch, I just couldnt remember the name at that time.  It's a user friendly thing.

    In NZ, one has to have an override switch for the spa, in the same enclosure, I have another switch with a neon light.  So, a normal user (or kids) were able to push the switch.  The Fibaro relay (via association) would turn on the Spa and turn on the neon to indicate it was on.  And the Aeotec is right next to it. An action through the scene can be a bit slow, hence associations.

    Its been working for years, but I have problems with my site.  Wrong things are switched, associations are lost etc.  Support first told me that it was corrupted messages on blind controllers.  When new models came out, they retracted that statement.  Then they told me it was because of multi-map of node-ids and I had to remove and add all devices again.  This took me over  a year, with so many devices and scenes, and a wife to keep happy with a workable system.  And I also had to go to to HC3.  I did that too.

    The system is much better.  But I still lose associations, and I find out weeks, months later.  And I still get wrong devices getting actioned.  And devices still go dead often (but I have reliable scene to liven the devices).

    I will try the association again.

    Hi @RohitNz ,

    Thanks for explaining requirements for SPA control. It is true that in your case direct association is the best solution. I guess you also have some of the Fibaro RGBW modules. If that is true you should check their associations because they are known to do some weird associations on their own. It happened to me several times that my HA start acting weird and I had to clean all of my RGBW modules associations to get everything back as it should be. I think there was also one scene for HC2 that was doing that, but can't find it now.
