Device completely disappeared - restore HC2 Backup for that ?

Question

Posted

I have been using a Fibaro switch for almost 8 years, which operates my door opener.

Now the device has completely disappeared from the Fibaro2!

All entries for this switch can no longer be found, even with the "show all" view in the modules.

As the device is installed flush somewhere, I would like to find it again WITHOUT having to remove it and re-train it.

Now to my question:

If I restore a backup of my HC2 when the module is still there, can that work?

I have around 80 active Zwave devices in the house, should I expect any problems after the restore?

I have NEVER restored the HC2 before! Please help!!

Hi @PBe ,

In a long years with my Fibaro HC2, several times I noticed that Fibaro eye completely disappeared from the system. Since I didn't want to loose power measurements with restoring backup I always first reset the eye and then include it again. I never used backup restore in such cases, but I guess restoring backup should help if after last backup there where no changes made to the system.

    Thanks for your tip!

Do you only lose the "power measurements" since the last backup or do you lose them completely?

That would also be a reason for me NOT to restore a backup!

I think I'll start looking for the switch in the wall ;-)

    Hi @PBe ,

Power measurements and events lost are the ones happened between last backup and time when that backup is restored. E.g. if last backup was done on 1st July and then restored on 30th July then all events and power measurements in between those two dates are lost.

I decided to go into the wall and replace the module. So no more restore necessary. Thanks for your tips @Sankotronic
