Simple gate opener solution

Question

Posted

Hi.  I have a Smart Implant that I want to use to open a swing gate.  The remote control I am trying to emulate uses the same button to open, stop, close.

I don't have any sensors/inputs.

I have rigged up the Smart Implant on my desk.  I have a 12v power supply, with the red wire to the positive and the two blue wires to the negative.  I have a 12v lightbulb on Output 1.

I have included the Smart Implant in my HCL.  I have Control Protection set to "On" for both INPUT/OUTPUT 1 and INPUT/OUTPUT 2.   I have set Parameter 156 to 1 second to simulate the remote control button press.

When I push the Switch in Fibaro, it turns on, then off after 1 second.  However the bulb does not illuminate.  Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

thanks!

@sitaylor

You are not doing anything bad for the purpose of controlling the gate drive.

The output to SI is potential-free. So connect this output to the inputs of the control unit for open/stop/close.

If you still want to switch on a light bulb for some reason, you must connect a power source of the appropriate voltage and current capacity in series with the light bulb and the SI output.

Attention, the SI output is rated for a maximum of 150mA!

If you use a 12v/2w bulb, the output will be overloaded.

    Hi Martin_N - thanks a lot for the response.  I really appreciate it.  I don't want to switch on a light bulb in the longer term, I was just using it in my test rig to see if there was any output and simulate the gate control unit before I went out to the gate to try it in less comfortable conditions.

    So, as I understand your comments above, the following will work when I fit it to the gate?
