Ubiquiti/ UniFi network problems

Question

Posted

Hi

I have been using Fibaros HC2 for many years and have been very happy with it and built on it several times.

I have a pretty big house (310m²) and had problems with my network so this spring I decided to do a retake and install everything new from UniFi.

Have a Ubiquiti UniFI Dreamrouter & many Unifi switshas & AP (now WIFi6).

My HC2 may have broken as I now don't get an ip address for it but only see the Mac address.

I borrowed an almost new HC2 from a friend and on it I get an ip address.

I've tried to run recovery on my friends HC2 but only get a black window with text that you have come to the page then nothing happens.

Does anyone here know of any setting Ubiquiti UniFi Dreamrouter that can make me unable to access HC2?
Have gone through all the settings & checked out and in different settings, saved and then tested but did not manage to get into HC2 and I want to be able to add more things and change/do more scenes.

Since I have borrowed an almost new HC2 that also does not work (can be accessed via the network on a windows computer) so will I not have to buy a new one or an HC3 if the fault is in the network products.

What will be the next thing to try?

My friend discovers that the swich that the HC2 was plugged into had POE, could that be the problem & could it have damaged the internal network card in the HC2?

Hi, I don't have a UniFi Nightmare router but you can check:

If you use Fibaro finder >> what you see?

what was the setting of IP in HC2 fixed or automatically

try to reset IP of your HC2

Press the learn button 10 sec, Your HC2 Ip will be set on 192.168.81.1

you need to connect your computer with ethernet cable to HC2.

Set IP computer on same IP range and connect.

Now you can change IP of your HC2

    Succes

    You saw macadress in router??

No this will not be the issue.

    • PoE Negotiation: PoE switches, routers, and injectors use a process called "PoE negotiation" or "handshaking" to determine if a connected device requires power. This process ensures that power is only delivered to devices that indicate they need it.

    • Non-PoE Devices: If you connect a non-PoE device, the router will recognize that the device does not require power and will not send any electrical current. The data connection will still function normally without any power being sent through the Ethernet cable.
