All,

So I have a few devices at home including the HC3.

These include:

- an iZone HVAC controller,

- Hikvision CCTV,

- Harmony hub,

- Anthem AVR,

- wifi curtains and

- a raspberry pi that monitors a number of devices.

I'm wondering what some people's favorite automations are?

Some of mine are:

- I have my Anthem AVR linked to the HC3 via a TCP link

- If I see motion outside (from camera motion etc) I email an image of the cameras to my gmail

- I have motion activating my entry hallway between sunset and a designated time (23:30)

- trending temperatures, humidity and motion via the RPi and influxdb

I also have "the home remote" operating everything in the hose.

Thanks,

Anthony

Hi @Anth , all,

Currently I still use HC2 to control my house automation including:

  • 116 z-wave devices. Most of my z-wave devices are made by Fibaro, but have few of other manufacturers.
  • running my UHAS (Universal Home Automation System) with 102 scenes and 149 VD's (Virtual Devices)
  • One Philips HUE bridge with included 45 mostly color bulbs and some stripes
  • several LFIX bulbs
  • Plethora of Nanoleaf light panels of all types and sizes
  • 7 x Sonos multi-room speakers controlled by HC2 over the Raspberry PI
  • Tempest weather station
  • 2 x Netatmo weather stations of which one is with all possible modules added
  • 2 x Netatmo coach or indoor air quality modules
  • 5 x Netatmo welcome cameras and one outdoor camera
  • Netatmo thermostat and 3 x smart valves (not integrated to Fibaro, but I might make integration for HC3)
  • 3 x Foscam PTZ cameras
  • OneTouch IP2IR to control multimedia (Philips TV, IP TV and Samsung Soundbar)
  • Enphase Envoy Metering EU with 15 solar panels and micro-inverters (this is integrated to HC3 only)
  • 1 x LaMetric smart clock
  • 2 x LitheAudio WiFi multi-room speakers (currently not in service, my integration to HC2 is lost by firmware updates, but integration with HC3 is still usable)
  • 2 x Twinkly LED string lights (integration to HC2 is not possible with latest firmware updates, but it works with HC3)

I do have some remotes, but they are used only occasionally since most of the time automation is taking actions by itself depending on the sensors input and my settings. :-)

Now, I'm learning and working on HC3 so that one day I can move my complete automation from HC2 to HC3.

Hi :D

I would also like to present my house:

  • 78 z-wave devices
  • image.png.45fa252294b956063adb6a9766583c8b.png
  • got some sonos speakers
  • have the heatit Renergy to control my electricity consumption here in Norway based on Spot price and tariff/grid rent (I think it is called?😅 )
It controls my heating, waterboiler and car charger.

Please login or register to see this link.

But my favorite automations is the light with combination of motionsensor, I am only using a my phone or button to toggle between night and day.
Everthing else just happens by it self 😄

Also like that I have garagedoor and doorlock control always with me 😁

Renergy electricity prices (with spot price and grid rentals):

90 zwave devices

  • Shutters controlled by fibaro modul
  • Lights mostly by Fibaro modul, but recently i had to try Shelly (for a fraction of Fibaro's price), becuase some Fibaro modul's outputs got stuck becasue of some induces voltage over and over. Shelly never ever stopped so far..using appr. 1 year them
  • Heating by Fibaro radiator heads, and floor heating by salus thermoheads and fibaro moduls
  • Garden irrigation by fibaro moduls and own quickapp for irrigation
  • Energy - Qubino for PV and one for House consumotion + Grafana Influx combination for visualizations
  • Doors and windows - only Sensatives..never ever anything else..
  • Alarm - Jablotron combined into Fibaro
  • Cameras TPlinks - not using them in Fibaro, as i dont see any point to do so
  • Roof windows - Velux quickapp
  • Garage, Gate and Street door - implant + magnetic sensor + own quickapp
  • Main door - Danalock
  • Motions - Mostly Jablotron PIRs connected to Fibaro by implant, and where's no Jablotron there i use Aeotec 7
  • Husqvarna mower - Quickapp
  • Weather forecast - Own quickapp, + included into irrigatioin quickapp and Housecheck quickapp
  • Quickapp for Calendar event announcing / Google + Raspberry + Speaker/, or some other events like Birhdtays, Waste and Plastic collecting days etc
  • Sonos ARC + full surround set with ERA 300
  • Several own developed quickapps for light, blind management
  • Voice announcements through Google speakers, using raspberry and Google's TTS service
  • Mails arrival (real mails, not emails) into my mailbox outside, infront of my house - controlled by sensative sensor and announced by TTS from Google
  • Pool water filter control
  • Automatick backup, error checking, sensors reporting periods, system restart check, all device's connectivity check, battery check  - all these are done using ER5

How did you integrate Twinkly into HC3?

Hi @TTp ,

I didn't do it myself yet, but there are several codes available here on forum.

Hi

I’ve been reading through the forum, and I have to say, I’m really impressed by the incredible smart home setups some of you have implemented!

I’ve just started my journey into home automation, and so far, I’ve kept things simple, starting with my home lighting automation. I’ve installed a combination of smart switches, smart bulbs, and smart plugs to begin automating my home lighting, based on an article I found on

Please login or register to see this link.

that offers a great comparison between smart lighting devices (at least it looks great for a newbie like me) and their main uses:

To make sure my system is flexible and scalable in the future, so I can integrate other smart devices easily in the future, I’ve gone with Philips HUE products:

·       5 Philips Hue bulb LEDs for different rooms

·       A Philips HUE switch for the living room

·       3 Philips smart plugs to integrate non-smart devices (e.g., my current lamps and other devices)

·       I’m also considering acquiring a Philips HUE bridge to control all the lights centrally. (so far, I can control all of them with a Google speaker voice assistant). Not sure if the bridge can provide any added value.

I thought this would be a good start, and that using all devices from the same brand seemed like a good way to ensure scalability in my future integrations with other components. But seeing the massive amount of components and complex integrations some people in this forum have implemented, I’m not sure if I’m heading in the right direction.

The next thing I’d like to do is to automate my home blinds and curtains. I’d really appreciate any advice from you all to make sure I’m on the right track and avoid any surprises when I add more smart components down the line.

Thanks a lot in advance!!
