How to connect Alexa using normal user. NOT Owner or Admin Fibaro ID

gianca

Question

Hello community,

I’m trying to connect my echo dots to HC3.

I'm using the FIBARO Smart Home Skill and it works ok with Admin user (Fibaro ID OWNER user).

For security and for simplifying the Alexa menu, I would like to connect it with a limited user that I created only for Alexa. A user with access to only certain type of modules.

I have tried changing the email and credentials, but I realized that Alexa only connects with the main Fibaro ID user.

I mean, it connects with a different user, but did not recognize any of my devices.

And everytime I insisted with the restricted user to search for devices, I have received an email in my Admin (Owner) account, (not directed to the restricted account) indicating that Fibaro have blocked an IP (Amazon's) for suspicious login.

I wonder if any of you has been able to connect Alexa with a normal user.

I tried with Fibaro support, but they didn't help too much. I found more information viewing the forum...

I noticed that it has been a problem with HC2 a couple of year ago, but I did not find information of this situation more recently... Maybe it is solved...

I'm using the last firmware (5.162.61) in my HC3.

Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, a little bit annoying...

You need to create Fibaro ID for this limited user and shared the HC3 as admin at Fibaro site.

In addition, create same limited user on HC3 and sync.

Expect the Owner all other users are limited.

All users below have Fibaro ID

    Hello,
I did that. I created a limited user for Alexa. The user is sync with the HC3.

I tested the limited user by myself: login remote and login local is working.

But when I tried to connect Alexa with this limited user, it did not recognize my devices and if I try too much, I got an email for suspicious activity.

First I thought that maybe the server has my Owner credentials in a cache or something like that. Then I changed my owner Fibaro ID to a different  email and leave the original Owner Fibaro ID as limited. Tried with this email and the problem is the same. After that I tried with the new Owner Fibaro ID email and Alexa works fine.

Just today morning I made an aditional attempt: with Alexa logged with my Owner Fibaro ID and working fine, I changed the admin (owner) account in the HC3.

I did not change the passwords or email, just the admin capability.

After I made this change, I start receiving emails from Fibaro for suspicious loggin attempts related to Amazon's IP addresses.

And, off course, I can't reach my devices with Alexa... they are listed, but unreachable.

Could be something related with permissions?

There are 3 Fibaro skills for Alexa, I am wondering which Fibaro skill you're using?

Please login or register to see this attachment.

The first skill is the oldest.

I suggest trying the Yubii skill, it's probably the latest

    Hello,

I was using the second (Fibaro Smart Home Skill), because Yubii is not listed in my Alexa app here in Chile.

Now I found the Yubii Skill using the Amazon web page.

Today I unistalled the Fibaro Smart Home Skill and deleted all my devices.

Then I installed the Yubii Skill using my Alexa's Limited Fibaro ID. Linked ok, but Alexa did not find my devices... I tried again and again: the Fibaro warning messages for suspiciuos login began again.

So... I unlinked the Skill. I wait a couple of hours and then linked again, but using my Owner Fibaro ID.

Alexa recognizes all my devices (including the ones I don't want to gave it access).

I made some tests... it works fine. Better than Fibaro Home Skill, because it recognizes my scenes.

After that, I unlinked the skill again. I delete all my devices (one by one). Wait a couple of hours and started again, but using my limited access Fibaro ID (made for Alexa).

The problem persists. Alexa did not recognize my devices.

And the Fibaro warning emails... for suspicious login attempt to my HC3... started again.

I think it is an access issue... related to Limited (Not Owner) Fibaro ID.

    Regards,

  • Very dissapointed with Fibaro's support😤

It's been more than a month since the last contact... (september 5)

    They don't reply my emails.

Now I have more than 500 messagges from my HC3 ([email protected]) for suspicious login.
