Failure with Door/Window Sensor 2 (FGDW-002)(Batteries)

Question

Posted

Hello.

I will try to be as clear and concise as possible. I have two identical door/window sensors, which I’ll call Sensor1 (with Battery1) and Sensor2 (with Battery2). Even the batteries are identical; they are the ones that came with the sensors and have never been replaced.

Here’s the situation:

  • Sensor1 has a low battery, while Sensor2 still has 70% battery.
  • I decided to put Battery2 in Sensor1, but Sensor1 doesn’t even turn on.
  • When I put Battery2 back into Sensor2, it doesn’t turn on anymore either.
  • Surprisingly, if I put the (discharged) Battery1 back into Sensor1, it works again.

I then bought identical, new batteries, and here’s where it gets even more puzzling:

  • I now have 5 brand-new, fully charged batteries.
  • When I insert these new batteries into either sensor, they don’t turn on.

I made sure to keep the sensors open while changing the batteries, following advice I found here on the forum.

Is it possible that changing the batteries in these sensors feels like replacing the radioactive core of a nuclear reactor? What should I do?
