HC3 Zwave Engine 2 not showing S2 Security - Heltun

Recommended Posts

Hi,

In one of our projects, we are using Heltun Smart Switches and Smart Thermostats with Z-Wave Engine 2. While the devices are configured and working, there's an issue:

  • When I turn on/off the lights manually from the smart switch, the status does not update in the mobile app.
  • However, if I control the lights through the mobile app, the status updates correctly.

In our office demo unit running Z-Wave Engine 3 (Beta), this issue does not occur. It works perfectly for both manual and app-based controls. When adding the Heltun device in Engine 3, I noticed it prompts for a security key ("S2"), which I understand is only available in Engine 3.

From the Fibaro Forum, I gathered that upgrading to Engine 3 requires a factory reset and re-adding all devices with their security keys, which is not ideal as we have already configured many devices in this project.

Is there any way to resolve this issue without upgrading to Engine 3 and re-adding all devices?

Thanks in advance for your help!

1. In case of Heltun Wall switches, you need to set lifline association to Multichanell, otherwise it will not work

2.We don't use Engine 3, as it is still in Beta (and probably will turn to stable in 2080), so this part i can't answer

3, In general. Heltun wall switches have many many problems. They will not occour immediatelly, but randomly time after time, mostly after Fibaro restarts or electricity outages. They just stop working at all. Stop sending reports, and never react to any keypress event. We had many many problems with them in multiple installations, so we stopped using them at all, as Fibaro never really helped us, and Heltun support also failed to find the source of the problem. I can tell you that you will have problems in Fibaro with Heltun wall switches in engine 2 (i can't talk about engine 3) Other Heltun devices are working well. Thermostats, moduls, everything is working really fine but switches don't.
