Lost of comms with various random devices

Question

Posted

Had a very unusual issue today, everything has been running great for a few years. This morning everything was fine, went out for a couple of hours and on my return i have dead nodes across my rooms… Unusual as not all systems are down.

I have tried a soft restart, powered the HC 2 down completly and restarted, checked all power to the devices (everything seems ok).

Any ideas? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi @Snowwaz28 ,

First try to click on X and reconnect device and then try turn on/of light or change thermostat setting and see if it will work.

If under Configuration --> Z-wave Network settings "Pooling dead devices" is unchecked then sometimes if devices lost main power and are set to "Communication problem" then will not reconnect until it is done manually by clicking on grey X.

@Snowwaz28 Hello and welcome to the community.

This you can try:

-Restart your zwave devices

-run a soft reconfuguration of your zwave devices

-run a soft reconfiguration of the zwave network on the homecenter.

Thanks both - will try both of those and feedback. :-)

You can also install a zwave traffic analyser like this one to give you more insight into how your traffic is routing.

You might find that one of your devices has died and this has made other devices unreachable.

So just as an update, powered the devices on and off. Noticed the Thermostat has low batteries so replaced those, powered everything back up and all back to normal - very weird.

Had to complete a reboot this evening as all scenes were not functioning either, but they seem back to normal too now… very weird. Guessing my HC2 is telling me to upgrade to the HC3 that is sitting in a box next to the original.. :-)
