Activate a scene from a wall switch wired to a FGS 213 Switch 2.

Question

Posted

I have a HC3 Controller running on V3 ZWave engine.  I have set a thermostat using a FGBS 222 smart implant to measure temperature linked to a FGS 213 switch to turn on / off heating element. The S1 is connected to a wall switch. The thermostat works well. What I want to do is turn on the thermostat from the wall switch which, at the moment, only turns the heating element on/off… not the thermostat. I am trying to set the Remote function for the switch using a short press on the momentary wall switch to turn on and a long press to turn it off.  I’d appreciate advice as to what settings in the Switch 2 parameters I need to have in order to get the Remote function to work.

@Mike MJ You can't decouple the Q output from the FGS-213 S1 Switch input.

To activate scenes you need another module like the FGS-223 with two outputs

. Then set parameter 28 /28.

To activate  scenes I recommend the Fibaro Walli Controller

Please login or register to see this link.

. It is versitale and has a reasonable price. If used with a power supply, it is the best zwave repeater I've seen so far. +13dBm!

Many thanks for your response. It is very much appreciated. I will replace the FGS-213 with a FGS -223. S1 will still be linked with the temperature sensor to form a thermostat and S2 will be hard wired to the existing wall momentary switch to activate thermostat scenes from 1. a short press >HEAT  and 2. a long press >OFF.

Do I have that correctly laid out?

At this time I can't use a Walli controller. This is a new house and the momenrtary switch is 240 volt and it sits in a gang of 5 switches.   Once I confirm the operation as described then I have 10 more thermostats to modify.   I will keep the Walli option in mind for another application though.

I suggest trying to Use Z-Wave Association to Control the Thermostat

Since the FGS-213 cannot trigger scenes, one approach is to use Z-Wave Association to directly control the Smart Implant (FGBS-222), instead of controlling its own relay output (Q).

    1. Go to the FGS-213 device settings in Fibaro HC3.

    2. Find the Associations tab.

    3. Create an Association on Group 2 (Single Click)

Select the FGBS-222 (Thermostat control endpoint) as the target.

This will make a short press on the switch toggle the thermostat, rather than the heating element.
