Issues with Double Smart Module and Reed Sensor

Question

Posted

Hi,

I’m trying to use a Smart Module as a garage opener (through Hubitat). I have additionally attached a normally closed magnetic Reed sensor to S1, hoping that I could use it to detect the open/close state that way. I’ve set the switch type to “toggle, synchronized with switch”. When the magnet is close, the relais correctly opens, but afterwards it keeps switching on/off very rapidly within a few milliseconds, repeating every second.

I use 230V AC, and have bought the following Reed sensor that should work with that voltage:

. I didn’t mean to acquire a normally closed sensor, but the product description was confusing and I don’t think it’s relevant for the problem I’m seeing.

I'm not entirely sure if this is a hardware or software (Hubitat driver) issue, but the fact that the on/off toggle happens so fast makes me believe it’s a hardware issue.

Should this work? What could be the issue?

To check disconnect your Reed sensor and check connect it solo to see what it does by open or close >> if this is correct than see what the distance is when the reed contact triggers. So you can check of the flittering comes from your adjustment.

Thank you! When I remove the Reed sensor from the equation and connect a basic switch, everything works. Must be the Reed sensor or a combination of that and the smart module. I’m wondering if I should try the same setup without 24V…
