Fibaro and other platforms architecture

Question

Posted (edited)

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum, so please forgive me if I missed something.

I've searched couple of times for information that I need but topics that I was able to find were not close to that what I look for.

I'm HC2 user right now, with some integrations done by professional service and some by myself (basic architecture on the blueprint). I know that HC2 at some point of time become obsolete.

Question that I have is related with the direction that I should take.

What is more future proof, and more universal - HC3, Home Assistant or something completely different?

For others uses in home, I need to make the use as easy as possible, that's why it needs to work with Apple Home.

Home Assistant was set up to check how it works, and there are couple of issues that I see, but for that I'm searching answers on my own in this and other forums.

Any suggestions are more that welcome!

Thank you!

That is almost like asking: I don't have a religion, I would like one. Which religion would you recommend. 😉🍿

Satel

There is an integration between the HC3 and Satel, but I also have heard of issues.

Sonos

There is a perfect QuickApp for the HC3 to integrate Sonos (QuickApp made by Joep).

Homebridge/Apple

Setting up Homebridge is a perfect way to fully integrate Apple Siri (but it isn't easy to set it up).

HASS

There is btw a new type of integration between HC3 and HASS, a QuickApp is made by jgab. You could use both solutions HC3 and HASS.

Philips HUE

The HC3 works perfect with Philips Hue via the build in integration. But some people don't think so an like to connect the Philips Hue devices directly via Zigbee. That is also possible with the HC3.

And some users can be almost religious about one solution, the discussion can go very far and can be harsh.

Thank you SmartHomeEddy, I'm afraid that this will go in such direction, and this is not my intention (a message to those that would like to go there).

If I understand your answer correctly, you suggest buying HC3 and migrate all to that platform.

Before I'll do that need to think (Pros & Cons), investing in ZBT-1 was easy and cheap, HC3 is not so straight forward.

You could, but you could also use other solutions. It depends on all kinds of factors:

    • budget
    • technical knowledge
    • time to spend (hobby?)
    • preferences
    • subjective beliefs
    • stability of the solution
    • community around the solution
    • migration from HC2 to new solution
    • etc etc.

The integrations you describe in your blueprint could run on a HC3.

True, it's more a hobby to my than a way making the money.

Asking for a future proof solution in current world is a bit naive, but still I don't want to change system in next 5 years.
