How to reset a single relay switch to re-add?

Question

Posted

Our Home Centre 2 lost all the device pairings after a firmware update due to incompatibility.

We want to re-add some of the relay switches (FGS211), how can we reset a switch and get it to be added again?

Have tried pressing the B button for 3 seconds to reset, not sure if it actually reset, but still can't re-add.

At the moment all devices come up as not configured in HC2.

I don't think you need to restore all the devices manually. Try restoring the most recent backup first.

    Thanks for that suggestion.

Fibaro support remotely updated the firmware from 3.6 to 4.6, then they said 4.6 is the new operation system not compatible with 3.6 and I need to re-add all devices.

Would have been nice they told me before the update.

@autom8 that is not exactly true, your support ticket is from March 2023 and now you are mentioning it (2 years passed).
The issue here is related with damaged eeprom (Z-Wave chip) memory and not hub version 4.6xx.

I am not sure if we can do anything about it after 2 years, I am not sure why it was not solved then.

To the topic, resetting the old switches can be done easly by:
    1. Turning off the mains power
    2. Holding the B-Button while applying the power

This is the easiest way to reset those.

    Thanks for looking into this.

Actually there was an earlier ticket from 2021, when support helped to update from a very old firmware to 3.6, everything still worked. But after updating to 4.6, all devices became not configured, the explanation was newer OS was not backward compatible.

In 2023, I tried to revive Home Center and contacted support for help with recovery. I don't remember there were talks about damaged eeprom.

Anyway, we are now in 2025, would like to try again. After asking this question, I was able to re-configure some of the devices, which is good news.
