Issue with Fibaro Dimmer 2 – Unreliable momentary switch behavior

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently facing an issue with my Fibaro Dimmer 2 setup.

Sx and S1 are connected to a wall switch with two wires, each less than 10 cm long. The switch was originally configured as a bistable (toggle) switch, and everything was working fine. The output is connected to 4 LED lights. The dimmer is connected to the neutral wire, and there’s no bypass module installed.

I decided to convert the switch from bistable to momentary by adding a spring (This is a common and intended modification). Sx and S1 are still wired to terminals L and 1 of the switch. Terminal 2 is not used (stable position).
I updated parameter 20 to “momentary” accordingly.

Since it didn’t behave as expected, I ran a new calibration. Here are the calibration results:

The issue I’m facing is the following:
Turning the lights on and off usually works, although sometimes it’s unreliable.
However, I cannot control the brightness in real-time by holding the switch. The dimming control is very inconsistent or simply doesn’t work.

Has anyone experienced this kind of issue or have any suggestions on what to check?

Thanks in advance!

On switches in Norway the spring can by mounted so the switch is always on until it is pressed, Should be mounted so the switch state is off when not used.

Only thing I can think of 🤔

never heard of that type before 😅
And can only find Schneider Odace wiser type of switches by a quick search on google.

They seems to by a kind of smart switch too? 🤔

    @Brors94

Odace is the first and most widespread range of switches in France and probably elsewhere.

    Wiser is Schneider's connected range.

Schneider Odace = Normal switch (the one I have)

Schneider Odace Wiser = Connected switch

Don't be flippant, Schneider is a huge player in the field of electricity and even connectivity. 😄

    EDIT :

I checked what you said about the spring on the wrong switch.

You were right; I wasn't pushing on the right switch.

I was so sure I was on the right switch that I didn't even doubt my wiring for a second. What a beginner's mistake.

    Thanks @Brors94, you were efficient!
