Not able to recover HCL

Hello. I bought a used (second hand) HCL, got connected to it, but did not have username/pw to login, and admin/admin does not work. I did a hard reset, and due to documentation, this should reset the user/pw to admin/admin. Still did not work. I read that a recovery has to be done. 
So, tried that but get the message "Unexpected error occured ; ...while trying to download files."
That is not supprising, as the HCL does not have Internet connection, i have connected directly to it with my computer, where I configured my computers ethernet to be in same subnet as the HCL. 
Then I tried to make a tunnel on my imac so that traffic from ethernet (en0) would be routed out on wifi (en1) which has Internet connection. That did not work. 

The biggest probem is that the IP after a Hard Reset, is set to 192.168.81.1 and this does not fit any of my network. 
The last thing I tried was to reconfigure my router to be subet 192.168.81.0/24, and then I got connection from my Imac to the HCL through the router. Still, the HCL with a cable directly into the router, will not go to Internet to get files, I get the same error message. 

So, here I am, no idea what to try next. Someone that can help ?

The way you did network switch to static, you can do it to DHCP. Just hold plus button for 20 seconds and do not unplug the power. That should make Home Center swtich to DHCP, so you can connect to it.

HC3L is worth 2 hours of Your time (or one...). HCL is worthless. 

Buy HC3L and throw HCL in the trash. I'm serious
