The geofence isn't working, even though it's enabled in the mobile app.

I can see location requests from the app on my phone, but the scene doesn't trigger.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hi

We’re looking into the reported issue and will share an update once we have more details.

Best regards,

I have both, old and new, apps on my phone.

On both geofence does't work.

The new app regularly tells me no connection while the old app is always operational!

Long ago I created a ticket but after 2 updates still the same.

This is a crucial issue - I have got a lot of scenes that get triggered by variables set by geofencing - pls sort this out - thanks!

and you are using the Yubii home application? not the old one

Meanwhile I'm using Alexa location - works perfectly and precisely.

Over at least last 10 years (based on my experience) Fibaro location is unreliable and most of the time has a huge delay,

How do I use this? My phone does not show up as a device … and how to get feedback to the HC3? Is there any tutorial available? Thanks!

Alexa location is done in Alexa routines which triggers my devices in HC3

Hi cag014, how do you set this up. I‘ve delved a bit into presence detection with Amazon Echo, but it seems that it is room/device-based. Now, if Echo notices that I‘m not in my bedroom that doesn‘t mean that I‘m off-site … How do you handle this situation? Thanks!

📋 Step‑by‑Step Guide to Alexa Location Routines

    1. Enable Location Services

    • On your smartphone, go to Settings → Privacy → Location.

    • Ensure Location Services are ON.

    • Give the Alexa app permission to access location “Always” (not just while using).

👉 Without this, Alexa cannot detect when you arrive or leave.

    2. Open Alexa App

    • Launch the Amazon Alexa app.

    • Tap More (bottom right).

    • Select Routines.

    3. Create a New Routine

    • Tap the + icon to add a routine.

    • Enter a name (e.g., “Arrive Home Lights”).

    4. Set the Trigger (Location)

    • Tap When this happens → Location.

    • Choose Arrive or Leave.

    • Enter the address (home, office, etc.).

    • Confirm the geofence radius (Alexa uses your phone’s GPS).

    5. Add Actions

    • Tap Add action.

    • Choose what Alexa should do when the location event triggers:

      • Smart Home: Turn lights on/off, adjust thermostat, lock doors.

      • Alexa Says: Announce a greeting.

      • Music: Play a playlist when you arrive.

      • Custom: Run multiple actions together.

    6. Assign Devices

    • Under From, select which Alexa device will execute the routine (e.g., your Echo at home).

    7. Save & Test

    • Tap Save.

    • Test by leaving or arriving at the set location.

    • Check if the routine triggers correctly.

    Tips for Reliable Location Routines

    • Battery Optimization: Exclude Alexa app from battery saver so it can run in the background.

    • Data Access: Allow Alexa unrestricted mobile data access.

    • Multiple Users: Each person must set up their own location routine on their phone.

    • Radius: Alexa doesn’t let you adjust radius manually, but accuracy improves with strong GPS signal.

    Example Routines

    • Arrive Home: Turn on porch light, play music, announce “Welcome back.”

    • Leave Home: Turn off all lights, lock smart lock, set thermostat to eco mode.

    • Arrive Office: Mute phone notifications, start a productivity playlist.

Hi cag014, thanks for- will try this!

Hi cag014, tried it according to your tutorial, but it‘s impractical and works only on a per room/device basis, e.g. I‘ve configured my Echo Kitchen as monitoring device - now, if I‘m in the living room (staying there) I get a notification after ca. 20 min that I‘m off-site. Additionally, I have no selection available to define the radius of the geofence …
