Dimmer2 Not Functioning - Help

Question

Posted

I have a Dimmer2 module connected to a toggle switch according to the 3 wire wiring diagram.

The Dimmer2 module has appeared on my SmartThings App as a device.

However the Dimmer2 flashes red constantly and does not appear to respond when using SmartThings to turn the connected light on or off. That is I cannot hear any click, and the light does not turn on.

How can I go about fixing this problem ?

Thanks @SmartHomeEddy. I have removed and re-paired the fibaro dimmer 3 times now with no success. The module just flashes red constantly.

I will try with some new bulbs (it is connected to a simple 5 bayonet candle bulb pendant light).

    • BLINKING RED – Calibration procedure failed. Possible reasons: installation failure or damaged load (causing activation of the overcurrent protection).

That is what the red blinking means. So there could be someting wrong with the load.

I am using some candle bulbs from screwfix that are sold as dimmable and rated as 4.2w each, here is the spec sheet...

I don't quite get this 'power factor' thing ? Are these bulbs a problem for some reason ?

I think I have a fibaro bypass somewhere - will this solve the problem ? - does this have to be fitted at the ceiling rose  ?

Fitted the fibaro bypass in parallel at the ceiling rose, removed and re-paired the dimmer2, still nothing - just flashes red.

Update for the benefit of others.

I have resolved my problem with fitting the Fibaro Dimmer2 and it is now working.

All I did was change over the connections at the switch box out to the lamp - exchanging the neutral and live wire connections. I would not have expected this to make any difference but for unknown reasons it has.

This was done on checking the wiring against this diagram, which is subtly different and clearer than the wiring diagram on the Fibaro Dimmer2 instruction sheet,...
