HC2 not responding - URGENT

Question

Posted

My HC2 controls a few things but mainly our heating in the UK. Ive always been worried it might fail during our winter, this morning it seems to be working but I can't reach it through laptop or mobile? It controls our heating from the eyeball temperature outputs, the heating is in three zones. The morning zone is still on now, hours after it should have gone off, while the afternoon zone hasn't come on. So it isn't communicating to the heat system. Tried turn off/on three times, still the same. Logged the problem with a ticket on tech support, waiting. Changed ethernet cable, and also the port on the router it is plugged into. Still the same. Internet is working.

I have three blue LEDs lit on the front as usual, with a 4th one to the left of the others pulsing.

Fibaro finder finds it, but when I try to connect is shows a '503 server unavailable' screen.

Any help?

If the 4th LED is pulsing a lot, it means your Z-Wave communication is being bombarded by a device, causing the HC2 to become extremely busy and preventing you from logging in.

Try turning off your Z-Wave devices and then reboot the HC2.

If you can log in after that, start turning devices back on one by one to identify which device is causing the problem.

By the way, if you have battery-powered devices, this issue can also occur when the battery voltage drops too low.

Hi, thanks for all that. The 4th LED is actually the 'software update available' one, which has been on for a while because I haven't updated it (as I asked Fibaro if that would mean restarting/reconfiguring all devices and they couldn't convince me).

I have been in touch with a local support engineer (as the Fibaro tech support still haven't answered despite it being urgent/heating related). We tried various things, including the recovery process but it just displays a black screen on the laptop with 'Fibaro Home Center Recovery' on it rather than the recovery options screen. Everything with the HC2 hub itself seems normal, but every comms interface is just unresponsive, it's like there's a firewall between me and it.

Update: We gave up on the HC2 so have installed an HC3 Lite along with a couple of mods to the heating and other automations. We are moving house so needed to have a working system, in setting it up I have learned an awful lot about the structure of the Fibaro systems. To me they are over complex for 'normal' users but I'm sure great for techy people. At least it's working now, after a lot of set up/protocol issues.
