Double switch 2 - hotel mode

Question

Posted (edited)

Hi,

I currently have a Double Switch 2 which i'd like to control a hotelswitch, meaning a switch downstairs and a switch upstairs to control a single lamp.

After searching for a good wiring diagram, where i couldnt find one, i tried my best and got it working partially. Unfortunately resulting in only one switch controlling the lamp properly.

From the wall (upstairs) i have three black wires; live, the lamp and the wire from the switch downstairs.

Additionalltly if needed i can get a blue neutral wire from the socket, below the switch.

Can someone help pointing me in the right direction in how to connect the wires properly? (-and whether this is even possible with a double switch 2?)

Thank you so much in advance! If further information is needed, please let me know! 😀

I’m trying to understand the concept.

If you intend to use the HC3 to control that, then connect the lamp to one of the switches, while the second switch (connected only to power) will be controlled by the HC3.

For example, let’s assume SW1 is the switch that actually controls the lamp:

  1. When SW1 is turned ON, send a command to SW2 to turn ON as well → the lamp is ON and both switches show ON.
  2. When SW1 is turned OFF, send a command to SW2 to turn OFF → the lamp is OFF and both switches show OFF.
  3. When SW2 (dummy) is turned ON, send a command to SW1 to turn ON → the lamp is ON and both switches show ON.
  4. When SW2 (dummy) is turned OFF, send a command to SW1 to turn OFF → the lamp is OFF and both switches show OFF.

However, if you need the switches to work without HC3 control, then you’ll need to buy different switches.
