Any good light sensors for indoors?

Question

Posted

I have a number of multisensors in my house but none of them seem to read an actual lux level unless they are outdoors. Does anyone know of a good lux sensor that works indoors?

Thanks.

Some sensors need a trigger for example from movement, to send an update for Lux. That maybe the case with your multisensors, maybe you have those.

I just use the Fibaro motion sensor that reports the Lux. I don't use the Lux, zo turned the reporting down. Also consider how realtime you want it to be, with battery powered devices. Maybe use a more dedicated non-battery powered device.

I use several Fibaro zwave motion sensors to switch lights. Parameter 8 value 2, PIR sensor active during the night only (to save battery) and in my case parameter 9  value 20 lux (PIR active when light intensity below 20). The motion sensors activates scenes where I can control the lights. Works well for me.

My motion sensors are also alarm zone members, so disadvantage of the above is that the alarm is not triggered during the day when PIR's are off. ( other door / window sensors do trigger )

But my alarm is mostly active only at night.

    Hi All,

So I found my issue was specific to the sensor. It's the Aeotec multisensor 6.

It appears that there is an issue with Parameter 41 when using Home Center.

You need to disable the templates checkbox then change the parameter to something else.

Link is here for more info if anyone else is looking.

@Anth for lux value I use AEOTEC and Fibaro and in the passed Steiner for outside

In my experience to use lux values as trigger can be triggy.

First the device measure lux fa 0-2000 note if you want to use the value 0-15 it wil be not so accurate.

    I use 0-6 as "dark" ; 6-14 "twilight" > 14 bright in a room with a small window
