Experience linking Fibaro (HC3L - SW 5.200.13 ) with Google Home

Question

Posted

Today I linked Fibaro to Google Home. This is not yet possible in Dutch, so I have change the lanquage and linked in English.

Unfortunately, the temperature setting for the Fibaro Heat Controller does not work.

However, the temperature of the room sensor can be read.

The lights can be switched on and off with voice commands, but when I want to control individual lights, all the lights switch on or off together.

It certainly doesn't work as well as I was used to with the inexpensive Wi-Fi system I used before.

Hopefully, Dutch will be supported soon.

It doesn’t matter which language you use — in terms of functionality, you will get the same result.

Lights are turned on and off together if they are in the same room. Individual light control also works perfectly — we’ve been using it for many years. Grouped light control works fine as well. All lights in the living room will be managed when you say, “Hey Google, turn on the living room lights” — this definitely works.

Every switch-type device can be controlled reliably by voice — we haven’t experienced any issues. We’ve been opening gates, garage doors, etc. by voice control in all our installations for many years.

Regarding temperature: if you have a climate schedule configured in Fibaro, then accessing thermostats from Google is not possible. Controlling heating from Google only works when the thermostats are in manual mode.

In manual mode, it works well. You can use commands like, “Hey Google, I am cold.” If you say this in the living room and the living room zone is set to manual mode, Google will increase the temperature for you.

However, as mentioned, if the zone is running on a schedule, it won’t work — the device will appear offline in Google.

Hi @Neo Andersson, isn't that a security issue to be able to open gates and doors with voice command?

By default, Google shows a single virtual switch for all lights. Press and hold the switch icon, and it will display all light switches separately.

No, not really,we never had any issue. If you have it possible to access from Fibaro, then Google doesnt care about any security or whatsoever.
