HC2 and lost routes (weak Z-wave range) to few devices in garage

Question

Posted

Hi,

I have HC2 with over 70 physical devices placed in 3 floor house and garage. Most of the devices have direct routes to HC2, apart from the ones in garage. Garage is sticked to house but it can be considered as separate building as there is 40 cm wall in between and the steel doors.

The issue is that on the wall between garage and house there is a double switch and it has no connection to the HC2 untill I place the wall plug next to it. With wall plug scenes works and I can operate with lights, but still neither double switch nor wall plug are reported by the scenes reporting routes and Z-wave range. There are also window sensors and gate switch that have no Z-wave connection too.

What should I do to make connection stable? Is the HCL as slave placed in garage best option? I'm able to place any LAN device in garage that will extend Z-wave range.

Thanks in advance.

I had similar problems as you have.

Had a Danalock on the garage door which i could never include so i needed to buy a Wifi-bluetooth danalock controller to get it working but after i replaced the HC2 with HC3, it could be included without the extra controller.

You can also add a Z‑Wave repeater. In my setup, the Neo Cam repeater has actually performed better than the Aeon Labs models and a few others I’ve tried.

Yes, i had a couple of those also which worked fine, but the Danalock was configured to only talk to the main controller directly which i asked Danalock SW Developers to change and i got the response that they would but not when.. So after more than a year i got tired and went over to HC3 instead (Not only because of that) and the Danalock can now communicate directly to the main controller.

Switching to HC3 is not a solution for me right now. Even having in mind that Netatmo Presence maybe would work with HC3 still it is not the way I would like to do now.

I'm curious why when Wall Plug is in the socket next to Double Switch both can be operated from HC2, but in the same time there is no route between them and HC2. And the Wall Plug does not extend the Z-wave to further devices... confusing.
