Block programming - between the sunset and sunrise

Question

Posted

Hi,

block scenes are quite easy to set up for me, as they are more visualized compared to Lua programming (but much less than with PLC block programming for example - room for improvement), which I do not know and did not even tried it. However, I am really missing a block, that would make triggering between sunset and sunrise possible.

For example, if I open the window after sunset, I want it to slightly angle the shades, so air venting is possible. Or controlling the lights differently at night etc. I can not trigger these scenes with the fixed times, because sunset and sunrise times are obviously highly variable.

Any possibility to implement it in the future or to do it already today?

You may use variables for sunset and sunrise, set them according to your locality to rise/set and use these variables as conditions in block scenes.

    Hi,
    do you have any manual on how to set the variable? I can't figure it out. I tried using block Panel -> Variables, but it was greyed out and couldn't be set to anything.

    Settings -> 5. General -> Variables tab

    Then Add Variable, for example like this:

    Okay, I figured it out. So this is just a state, which I first have to trigger (by sunset in the evening and sunrise in the morning), and as long as this state is active, the scenes can be triggered. Now I need some time to test it.

    Yes, you got it 👍

    (No need (otherwise it won't work) to use the variables DayOrNight at trigger in the scene, just the validations it is "Night". The "Window opening" is the only trigger. )

    Yeah, I did not bother with that. Thank you very much!
