Sauna temperature sensor with Smart Implant

Question

Posted

Hi,

I would like to measure and regulate the temperature in my sauna. (I built my sauna self and almost done.) I wanted to use smart implant + DS18B20 for temperature regulation. But already the second sensor do not work properly (just for short time was good).

Could you suggest a long time stable solution?

I know 90% of the the DS18B20 sensor is a copy/low quality, not work after electrical break, etc.

Thank you!

much easier is to use ready-to-go product, like

Please login or register to see this link.

, which is already certified for sauna. Generally all these blebox devices can be controlled over HTTP based QuickApps, the API is known/open. And sure, if you wish to use your solution, you can still buy from blebox only the DS18B20, they sell definitely original versions.

It is possible to even use wall thermostat with NTC probe directly if you like, you just need to find one which gives you an option to define the maximum temperature for which it can be controlled.
It ofcourse depend on what is your way of heating the sauna.

Thank you, I will check it. The original DS18B20 working stable?

Is NTC analog? Can you recommend one?

I have a Finnish sauna and I will use a 9 kW heater. I bought a 3-phase bistable relay that can be switched with a Fibaro smart switch (impulse switch, auto off).
I saw the PT1000 temperature sensor. AI wrote a Lua program that converts the resistance values of the PT1000 sensor to degrees Celsius. Do you think the PT1000 could also be good?

Its analog and in theory you can use it with the implant - as an analog input reading (with pullup).

The one thing is that its not linear do you cannot use build-in feature in the system to transform 0-10V to sensor reading, you will need to make a QuickApp to calculate the temperature based on the voltage.

Pull-up resistor on Smart Implant is 10k ohm if I remember correctly, I will check it and let you know.

This will allow you to choose the right type od NTC sensor (to get the best resolution).

I would use Smart implant + 0-10V Sauna Temperature and Humidity sensor. We use this one from Loxone with KNX 0-10V analog sensor actuator:

Could be used with Smart Implant.

Also with the sauna, and I am recommending this every time, isare safety measures:

    • Detect closed doors and person siting at the bench (binary pressure sensor).
      • Sauna in Running state, not pre-warm, should detect if person is sitting in the sauna and Doors are closed.
    • Physical button inside and outside the sauna to cut off power to sauna heater.

Thank you for all support. Finally I have ordered Blebox, Saunabox. It is the best and cheapest solution for me.

I have installed the Sauna box, working well. I have downloded the Blebox quick app and IP address adjusted in HC3.
How can I adjust the sauna temperature, and switch off/on the sauna from HC3? With Blebox app it is works (via Wifi).

    Thank you!
