ZWave Debugging (check the mesh, routing and signal quality)

Guest jeromefr28

Question

Guest jeromefr28

Hi,

I need to extend the Z-Wave signal to cover the whole house (3 floors x 100m² with reinforced concrete floors).

Currently I have dead node problems , and windows contacts detectors (hsm02 and SM103 everspring) that transmit their opening statement at random.

By installing the HC2 in the middle of the house it works, but since the equipment room of the basement , the problems appear.

Can I replace the HC2 antenna by:

Cable 50 ohms with SMA connector ?

Please login or register to see this link.

Antenna omnidirectional 868 Mhz ?

Please login or register to see this link.

The Z-Wave mesh networks with the HC2 V1.036 does it really work?

I have :

9 Fibaro roller shutter FGR221

2 Fibaro relay switch FGS221 V1.7

1 Fibaro universal sensor 25/06/2012

1 EZmotion in routing mode

1 Aeon Labs Smart Energy Illuminator

3 AN157 Everspring

1 siren Fortrezz SSA

1 EZmotion

9 everspring hsm02

2 everspring SM103

2 everspring sp814

1 Z-Wave.Me ITEMP (KO)

thanks for your help,

Can I replace the HC2 antenna by:

Probably it will not change anything - please remeber that Z-WAVE provide duplex transmission, so module is getting command from the controler as well as controller is getting informations from module, so longer antenna will make no sense, because there is still the same antenna in modules.

To make this network works better please add one more "mediating" Fibaro module between problematic modules and the good ones.

  • precisely, I added this module type :

    9 Fibaro roller shutter FGR221

    2 Fibaro relay switch FGS221 V1.7

    1 Fibaro universal sensor 25/06/2012

    1 EZmotion in routing mode

1 Aeon Labs Smart Energy Illuminator

    3 AN157 Everspring

    1 siren Fortrezz SSA

but the Z-Wave mesh networks with the HC2 V1.036 does it really work?

  • I've tested a 8dBi 802.11b/g/n antenna in the HC2 but i have no signal improvement. in some cases i have more dead node with the 8dBi antenna.

  • and an other problem...

when the opened or closed status of the sensor isn't received by the HC2, this one never checks/polls the sensor status

Please login or register to see this image.

    /emoticons/default_icon_confused.gif" alt=":-?" />

    to reproduce the problem:

    1 - stop (shutdown) the HC2

    2 - open a window (hsm02 or SM103 everspring)

    3 - start the HC2

-> the HC2 does not see that the window/door is open even after 1 hour !

  • Mr. Fibaro, could you answer me?

Your technical support is really lacking reactivity.

  • only to reproduce the problem:

    1 - power off the HC2

    2 - open a window (hsm02 or SM103 everspring...)

    3 - turn on the HC2

-> the HC2 does not see that the window/door is open even after 1 hour !

my questions and comments seems to be a problem for Fibaro

  • Hi,

With the 1.040, many modules no longer "dead nodes".

    the network is not reliable.

    Yet, I have many modules with the "routing node" (EZmotion, 1 FGBS321, 4 AN157 ON/Off Plug Everspring, 2 FGS221, 8 FGR-221)

the Z-Wave mesh networks with the HC2 does it really work?

Can you help me solve the problem?

  • and i have 3 modules frozen including and FGBS321.

they do not appear as dead node but their status is not refreshed.

I rebooted the HC2 several times and reset the modules but without success

I am very disappointed of this HC2. it is unreliable.

Fibaro emphasizes the design and marketing at the expense of technical support

  • Hi,

all is said in this topic.

I bought the HC2 in July and frequently I have dead node problems.

it is obvious that with the HC2 the Z-Wave mesh networks doesn't work.

the signal is not routed through the modules but directly to the HC2.

it is impossible to debug this type of problem with the HC2 V1 : no log, no Z-Wave routing matrix and NO SUPPORT !!

Fibaro does not respond to my emails

this is a ripoff this Fibaro Home Center 2

Please login or register to see this image.

/emoticons/default_icon_evil.gif" alt="" /> no doc in english, no support...

    with the vera :

Please login or register to see this link.

another problem, the polling. Do this test :

    1 - stop (shutdown) the HC2

    2 - open a window (hsm02 or SM103 everspring)

    3 - start the HC2

-> the HC2 does not see that the window/door is open even after 1 hour !

  • What environment do you have? House , apartment?

On how many floors are the devices

What material are the walls and floors

Try to do some association between devices and see if they work

Eg associate door sensor to lamp

    Let me know
