I believe that Fibaro is being victim of it's own ambition.

They are trying to tackle to many things at a time:

    • New HC2 Functionality
      HC2 compatibility list
      New iPad App
      iPhone App
      Android App
New devices (Door/Window sensor, power outlet, motion sensor, etc)

I know that many of these are handled by different departments, but unless Fibaro has a HUGE development team, they are being spread too thin amongst all of these topics.

This is a common mistake, but I am able to appreciate a company that has vision and ambition.

Nevertheless they should start to deliver, otherwise they risk losing the faith of Early Adopters, and these are the main drivers for mass market, as they are usually opinion makers on the IT fields.

On top of it, I believe they have not been addressing costumer communication very well, as they are leaving paying costumers on hold for too many months.

I believe they will have until June to deliver a perfect system, or start releasing new stable version of HC2 on February, and show noticeable improvements until the end of the year.

If they succeed, I see Fibaro dominating the market, otherwise they will go down in flames.

From my part I'd rather see them dominating the market, as I have already invested a significant amount of money in their products.

I still believe they will be able to get out of this on top...

I bought fibaron for more than a year ago.

It was intended to replace Vera3.

But I have not been able to use it at all.

Not working software, deceived promises and crappy support.

    Well wasted money

    Hi,

I do not want to give exact dates, but most of these projects are on the final way - it takes so long, because we've rebuild them completely.

New HC2 Functionality - final beta

HC2 compatibility list - most Z-WAVE devices are or will be compatibile

New iPad App - final tests

iPhone App - available / new update soon

    Android App

New devices (Door/Window sensor, power outlet, motion sensor, etc) - Door window sensor is on the market, and PLUG will be very soon.

Hi i am new on the forum but i follow it for one month now.

The thing is, customer can understand you are rebuilding new release to have a clean code. But I think is important to have a approximate timeline to have an idea to what happen on fibaro, many user prefer leave because no body say what happen. Other thing, i don't see so much answer from the fibaro's team. Only user help other one, and it is not on this way you can have a good community.

    Hi Krystian,

Thank you very much for your answer. It is quite appreciated.

I am quite happy to hear that Fibaro is about to deliver on most of these fronts.

Just a quick note for Fibaro to ponder on:

The key to a satisfied customer base is sharing. People are not stupid (at least for the most part) and they can understand the delays if you explain them. (e.g.: If people knew the reason for the delay in the new HC2 version was a complete rewrite of the code to enhance performance, they would probably not bitch half as much)

What customers don’t like is being kept in the dark, because that gives the impression that you do not take care of your customers.

Build a High Level Roadmap (for the non secret stuff like new devices) and share it with your loyal customers. Embrace the community and you will see how Early Adopters can be your best marketing tool. They really are the ones that kick you off into the mass market, not your marketing department.

Personally I have bought into Fibaro’s vision of the Future, and I don’t mind waiting a couple more years to see it unfold into perfection.

Again, thank you for spending the time to share this information with us.

    Regards,

NightShadowPT describes my feelings very well. I still believe in the concept, but perhaps that's also because I'm new to the business and don't have any hands-on experience with either system. I do however believe in Fibaro's vision to deliver a complete eco-system, instead of just building a single controller or some sensors and hope that it works together with other equipment.

This week I'm taking the plunge and opt for Fibaro, hoping they will release their motion sensors in the coming 2 months or so and get their firmware working perfectly over the next 6 months.

The only thing I would like to stress with Fibaro is: don't try to overwhelm us with the quantity of features. Things like VOIP, burglary protection and the like. Do it like with your modules: only make a couple of them, but do them really well. Focus.

I agree with you, guys.. the concept is great...

I just spent more than 1'000 euros for an HC2, door sensors, dimmers, etc... and I'd like to have a full stable 3.x version.... I need to use LUA, wall switches, remote control to start scenes, etc.... if it's not possible soon, I would be very disappointed... to have a so nice box unable to do anything useful...

    Cheers...

@Krystian and all other Fibaro representatives

That's my exact problem again you gave a vague, answer in what time line are you producing.. because you're telling me again

Final test stage, coming soon etc etc. is LAME.!

Please login or register to see this image.

/emoticons/default_icon_evil.gif" alt="" /> We've got that answer numerous times and still no result.

Telling us again that the whole module had to be rewritten, What you're actually saying then is that when I bought the product almost a year ago the product @#@#$#@??

Come on it's not that big of a deal to re-write some code? When you already have a base to build on. Or is the dev. team to small??!!

Keep in mind I love the product but I hate the way this is going even Intel produces a timeline and yes they are off every now and then, but what Fibaro is doing is keeping customers in the dark.

Create a road-map that everyone is able to see and keep your customers up to date on that road-map.

That is what we as your PAYING customers are asking, nothing more and nothing less.

You are forcing your customers to hack the device, spend countless hours integrating custom features because of the unknown timeframe.

Give us roadmap, and translate the documents. It's ridiculous that the polish documentation has been available for so long. Really, how long does it take to translate? I've never seen a company relying on customers using Google translate for documentation.

If the development is going slow, open up more!

There are a lot of knowledgeable and competent customers available.

Further more you need to assign a team member to be active on the international forum. In a customers point of view you are really close to this forum becoming a common place to whine about Fibaro rather than a place to get and share experience.
