Another Big Problem

My HC2 has Crashed 10 days ago it has been repaired online by support 2 days later and now has crashed again...

I'll change my opinion about this product, it's not stable !!! since new release version the HC2 has been unavailable 2 many times.

It'll be hard to continue with something I can trust on it!!!

Very strange, I have two box and I never have problem since last stable version.

I never reboot it, just when power go off except that, work perfectly.

Do you know what was the problem first time ???

When I give access to fibaro they tell me what happen and what I must to do to resolv the problem.

They have restart Service via telnet and i've aksed how to do it myself but they don't want to explain how.

Last time it was the interface that was not accessible and now it's 503 error Web page

fxpa, your HC2 web server is down or very busy ! only one way: restart the service again ! try to turn off the box (remove power cord), wait 1 minute and restart. check your scene it can be a loop in scene process ? we no have indication on HC2 about CPU / Memory charge.

it's really annoying.

Power Off and on and restart service do nothing

Wow ! have you contact Fibaro support ? They do something for you ?

Fibaro must add Advanced system admin in HC2 UI with "restart services", CPU usage, box "auto check", mesh network map etc. etc. requested many times :->

Krikroff, i was take him, he got damaged database that way restart not helps; for us interesting how he get that problem, maybe anyone other got that problem too (yes full recovery helps with it, or old backup with good database)

I had exactly the same problem after a power failure in my house.

The database was corrupted and Fibaro support had to solve the problem.

I wonder how to deal with such a situation if i.ex. I leave for a 2 week holiday and system dies because of a short power failure ???

Fibaro do you have any solution for that except that I have to come back from the holiday home and give an access to my HC with Team Viewer?

richo, i think the first thing to secure the installation: connect your box on UPS. With low power consumption of the box 8-10W you can have many power rescue with a small UPS. Put your Internet box on it and you keep notification etc even without main power.

richo, FIBARO box is probably running on Linux, and Linux like any other UNIX system doesn't like pulling the plug.

I have my box running of the APC UPS and never had this kind of problems

It would be nice that fibaro provides a solution for UPS, wether they sell one USB monitored battery backup unit in replacement/addition to the power adapter( like zapito do) or they could support officially some UPS units that are usb controllable.

The only way to have the system perfectly protected against power outages is that UPS is monitored, and if power doesn't come back after a set duration or UPS battery low level reached, the system has to shut down properly.

Then the system has to be able to start again when power comes back.

At work, I do use some Open-E storage systems (linux based professional NAS storage), that do natively support a list of USB monitored UPS.

When power fails, the system sends email to inform it is running on battery.

After 10 minutes or 15% battery left, the system turns off properly (halt) if power is not back (and sends another email to inform it has to shutdown to protect itself).

the bios and also the ups are configured so system starts as soon as power status changes, so when power comes back, everything starts back.

I think it is the only way to protect against database and more generally filesystem corruption.

A question to fibaro guys:

is there a way t shutdown the HC2 with some lia commands ?

is there a way to setup the box so it starts as soon as power is back (bios option)

There is probably a way to make it with a UPS with ethernet monitoring or UPS +ipx card... + virtual device that probes ups status...

I got one example, why would be good to restart HC2 via button or api.

I have a variable Nightime, who get value 1 when is night.

If value is 0, when I start movie, Shutter go to middle, and if I stop the movie the shutter is open and light go off or light. The other problem is light stay off untill it rain or is night (and many other thing like that).

And the problem was the variable can't change value, same if I write 1 and save. I restart service many times, but still not working, I must restart the HC2 to work again. This configuration work now for 3 month. But since sunday until yesterday I got this problem.

If all House stay in the night mode or day mode and If I use htpc to simulate presence when putting tv, all shutter open.

So if I take holidays I leave for 1 month 1/2. So what happens if I can't restart HC2 for my holidays.

I understand the security of the system is important, but if the house is not secure, that is for me a bigger problem than the HC2.

Shad, you gonna create scenes with old date to set up variable manually or interval time to check is variable got correct value, you don't need do a restarts

changing value in variable panel don't trigger scenes, but if you do that by scene it will trigger other scenes with that variable

No I don't want trigger scene from variable, but when a scene start, it check many variable, if it is holiday or work day, night or day ....

And if it is night, HC2 do some actions, but if it is day do other.

But the problem was, the HC2 don't save the value in the variable and I must do a hard reboot to work again and can save the value..

I am going to add some option for the light with the 4 in 1 when I am going to found how to increase the refresh time for luminosity.
