I would like to know the purpose of having audio ports on the HC2. It would be cool if we could attach a microphone to it and use it for voice commands.

I think this is just something that comes along with mother board..

    geeklabs,

It is just as Lauri said. It is just motherboard audio input port. Voice commands can be handle by Lili

Yes, but for Lili you first have to push a button. It would be great if Lili could listen to what is said in a room all the time and act if addressed.

Calling Lili from my couch to turn on the lights would be great. When I first have to push a button in my app, I just as well could push the lights button. No need for Lili here.

Krystian It would be great if those ports could be used for PA. Having announcements in the house with the home's sound system. Also if the mic could be always listening to your commands, that way you don't have to do much.

With the sonos you can easily create anouncements in the house. I have several announcements. which works very easy.

Weather and time in the morning.

alarm status when I come home.

When you leave, tells you that the house will go in low energy mode.

    When someone rings the doorbell.

    etc. etc.

Simply to use in a scene by changing a value of a variable in a scene, then call your virtual device button and it speaks! (just with a little delay). But works very nice

Having a microphone would be nice, but it won't really work when you have noise, tv or music on.

You could better have a one ofthese in one ear:

As far as I know, this is the mini-itx boards used:

If you have 2 USB ports, most likly it is using

The differences between this two Mini-ITX motherboards are:

ons vs two core design, with or without hyperthreading

    1.6GHz vs 1.8GHz

2GB RAM vs 4GB RAM (max), however I think the D945 is 512MB standard from Fibaro, and the DN2800MT is 1GB - but I could be wrong.

With the new v4 software which is said to be multithreading, I guess the dual core version would be alot better?

    D945 has 1GB of memory:

I know this post is for the hardware that today HC2 is built with.

I would like to post a suggestion for future hardware version of HC2 (HC3) .

I prefer a low power consuption device ..... so APU1D4 would be great.

It have SD slot for system image backup (maybe this solve usb STICK failure ?!?!?!)

It have m-sata ssd support (maybe another system backup better than USB ???)

It have SATA for primary Image (u can continue using SSD for primary system image)

I can accept an HC3 that cost a little bit more than HC2, but a idon't want another system with USB backup !!! Please solve this issue in HC3 !!!!!!

BTW : My system stay at 4% cpu usage all day ... why not a more "green device" ?

Do you need all this power from HC2 ?

    Any user can (must ???

I'd rather have Fibaro focus on solving the issues at hand, amongst them the inability to make backups. Energy consumption of the HC2 is only a part of the total energy consumption. All the nodes consume quite a bit themselves. For my house the total annual consumption by the home automation system comes to 500 kWh, I'm sure there are some people here that have an increase of 1000 kWh or more.

    Intel® Desktop Board D945GSEJT - memory is DDR2, single SO-DIMM slot.

Intel® Desktop Board DN2800MT - memory is DDR3, dual SO-DIMM slots, max system memory is 4GB.

Would it be possible to use some lua script to figure out what type of hardware is used? like cpu type, memory, mainboard.... etc?

    Posted

lua io capability is not exposed so you can't do that

Hmmm...Or could it be referring to DN2800MT?

No, it is still just two. The latest I know of is the atom based DN2800.

Intel has stopped mini-ITX boards and move into NUCs which has limited OEM option on mini-ITX boards. Wonder how HC2 will become in the future...

3rd generation has been released some time ago, it is Mitac PD11TI board currently used for HC2 (and not Intel DN2800MT), yes, they are "identic" but Mitac is still producing them.
