Just noted that the sensor doesn't have humidity...

So, it's not a full replacement for 4-in-1 (I need humidity at least in a bathrooms)

exact reason i will not be buying any... no external power and no humidity! shame as i hate the aeon labs but they do just work! lets hope they keep working hey

Ooops... No external power?... Good bye Fibaro sensor than.

I don't get it. Even without external power all my sensors seem to work for at least a year with 5 min ping time. That sounds suitable in most scenarios. With Fibaro I expect it to work for even longer so what's the big deal if you need to change it once a year?

In ideal world - may be, yes.

In a real world - battery life is massively decreased for "always active" devices (like movement sensor).

With the best batteries I've got 3-4 month for Aeon 4-1.

Also, batteries are completely NOT a green solution - they are extremely toxic, massively damaging our planet Earth.

It is not allowed to use rechargeable batteries with sensors also.

Also, when you are not at home (like me and my family - we are traveling a lot), there is no one to replace a battery.

Again, completely idiotic decision.

The same as smoke sensor (12V but connectors are not included in a package) - all standard smoke alarms are using 110-240V.

Low-voltage is only OK for a new developments.

Main competitor (Nest, acquired by Google recently) supports batteries + mains (240V for UK).

That's why I installed 4x Nest alarms two months ago. And will buy more.

Very nice and reliable devices.

I completly agree with shapa.

I hate device with battery, so for my aeon labs I put many usb wire in my roof.

But just because is not battery, I am not sure to buy it.

For the smoke alarm, I heard they will be change that and put the connector in the box.

For the connector i asked the support, they said that was an mistake and contact your reseller to get the connector if needed

I was hoping for installing this new Fibaro sensor instead of several planned standard Satel sensors at my newly renovated home. But that would mean multiple additional batteries to care about and replace more or less every year. That's ridiculous!!! To overpay for the sensor only to add maintenance hassle to it... Wireless does not make sense if it becomes pain in the a*s of the user.

Guys, think practical. If someone is not retrofitting your devices, wired power is THE ONLY option to keep house as "maintenance-less" as possible. Actually for a device like this, even in retrofitting scenario most users will have 12 or 24V there already as basically all alarm sensors need it.

I have Aeon multisensors, some connected - some not. The wired ones are faster and more responsive. I think that Fibaro must be quite confident, when they still launch a battery only version. Would be interesting to hear there thoughts on the subject.

But what about the Nest smoke-sensor. Could it be integrated with HC2?

- it comes wired (110v for now)

. it has motion sensor

- Carbon monoxide sensor

- Ambient light sensor

- Humidity sensor

So basically a wired Fibaro motion sensor that cowers CO2 as well.

It might be more expensive than a Fibaro smoke or motion sensor, but if it covers both devices – it’ might be a bargain.

- And you might even use it’s speaker as a doorbell chime and more?

Any toughts?

    Regarding motion sensor - they call it activity sensors.

    It might not be as refined or dedicated as Fibaros tracking sensor, but I can detect presence as it can illuminate your hallway at night, when there is motion.

    Working on it yes, but nothing official yet.

    But:

    I don't know what type of battery the sensor uses, but it would of course be possible to power it by using an adapter modded to provide the correct voltage, matching the battery. Not a "clean" solution. Solder cables to the battery connections in the sensors, and run them to a modded adapter that provides the power of the battery.

    Bearing in mind that it is managed by Google now - I'm 100% confident that the API will be very nice. And stable.

    And yes, motion detection works really nice and fast (glowing LED reacts immideately), the same as smoke and CO2 detection (tested Nest with "smoke alarm testing" kit).

    220-240V version (with AA batteries backup) is available in the UK, including DIY stores (B&Q for example).

    The demand is very high, I've seen a lot of people buying them.
