Some users have problems with Fibaro Motion sensor and Vera / Vera lite

We could integrate the sensor in Vera Lite (with a firmware upgrade) - our sensors have version 2.6. Sensors with version 2.4 will not work.

Not sure about the difference - but would it be possible for this users to upgrade the firmware?

Or is there any known work around?

Thanks,

Michael

I also have two Fibaro Motion Sensors with ver V2/4 EU with dates 11.04.2014 and they are inoperable with my Vera Lite UI6.

What shall I do to upgrade the firmware to 2.6 ?

Should I send them back to my seller Eurox10 ? If this is the case is not very user friendly and costly operation !

I've have access to a HC2 or a HCL, does anyone knows i can i update the firmware on the FGMS-001 from V2.4 to V2.6 on these interfaces?

No, You are not able to do this.

What are you basing this on?

It states in the manual that it should be possible to update software via HC2.

For now, there is no option to do that via HC2 or HC Lite. I am owner of both.

In my opinion it will be done automaticaly when you upgrade your HC2 software to new.

3.590 but in my opinion when will be new software and you will upgrade this it will upgrade firmaware in motion, but it only my opinion.

I am also looking for that "Upgrade" button... never seen it. My Motion Sensor sitll show 2.4 but no button.

Fibaro is saying here

Please login or register to see this link.

You can upgrade the device wirelessly, by choosing that option in Home Center 2, anytime a new firmware is available.

You don’t have to disconnect it from a wall socket and waste time connecting it to computer. Just press update button and

enjoy the time with your loved one.

But no button...?!

I've got very serious issues with v2.4 sensors on Indigo.

Again, Fibaro is outstandingly bad in terms of software (and firmware) development.

Fibaro has stated multiple times that you can exchange your version 2.4 with 2.6 firmware.

Just ask them...

I have version 2.6 running great right now.

Where did Fibaro made this statement ?

This was the most recent post that I could find.

Dear all,

There is a known issue with firmware version 2.4 when used with 3rd Party controllers.

This may not be the same issue (the author doesn't say which version of the firmware he is using) but it could definitely be a contributing factor. Please remember that if you want to use the Fibaro Motion Sensor with 3rd Party gateways it should definitely be running v2.6.

If you have a v2.4 sensor, contact your dealer to arrange a replacement to v2.6.

Kind regards,

Daniel

Yes but this is not really acceptable. Who pays the cost of shipping and you also have to re-configure your environment with new sensor id's . These were sold with this feature available already and even V4 does not have this enabled.

Anyone from Fibaro give a timescale for you guys and ota firmware updates? I for one do not suffer from it but maybe an email to support@ might help?

Bit naughty if they do not intend to include it!

Dear Fergal,

Your dealer should pay for the shipping, in the UK this is covered by the Sale of Goods Act (1979.)

As I said previously, there was a known issue with v2.4 with 3rd Party Controllers but it has been fixed with the v2.6. If you are using a 3rd Party Controller and have been shipped v2.4 sensors from your dealer, please contact them for a replacement.

As for OTA firmware updates, there is a new action present in Z-Wave devices as of v4 called "updateFirmware" that can be called manually from a Lua script.

Obviously as you are all aware there are still a few bugs with the beta so please await further information once v4 is released officially on 6th January 2015.

Kind regards,

Dan

Thanks Dean.

We are trying very hard (both locally and globally) to improve communication with you guys.

Can I also take this opportunity to remind our UK customers that your first port of call for Technical Support should be our team here. We can't help with every single issue, but it's always a great place to start.

You can call us on 0203 327 1000 (normal working hours only at this stage) or send an email to [email protected].

Cheers,

Dan
