I'm sorry but did you read the HomeKit specs? Fibaro can easily implement the HomeKit specs while staying as it is. HomeKit is not aiming to replace Z-wave or other communication protocols: it's made to group different kind of devices (each one using their own protocol) to have them managed by apps made by developers. That means that there will be more competition on home automation apps, so better quality and more choice for users.

That mean we will be able to have a HomeKit app that will manage Fibaro devices (Fibaro HC2 will act as a "bridge" in the HomeKit specs) but also other devices without having to wait for support from Fibaro.

It's a win-win for apple/fibaro users and that doesn't mean Fibaro has to drop anything: it will still use Z-wave as device communication protocol and expose Z-wave devices and services to HomeKit compatible apps via the HK SDK. Also that doesn't exclude supporting other Android protocol to do the same on Android platform. It's just an add-on for Apple users.

So please, before taking parts (Apple/Android/Non-Apple/Etc.) and before commenting read the docs and understand technologies.

I think the HK support will give a boost to the home automation apps on iOS and that could help selling more Fibaro HC2 and Fibaro Z-wave products (after all Fibaro is an hardware developer and not a software one).

Thanks,

Demetrio

Definitely looking forward to have integration between the two eco-systems (Apple & Fibaro) built into my fairly new place.

In a layman perspective, HomeKit may be the answer to all these "fragmentation" mess in the home automation space.

Just watch this:

Fibaro is looking very old fashioned compared to this.

Yeah making arbitrary judgements based on an animated add is a way to apparently

I guess the Fibaro videos shows nice a great system too... Everything you see are not always the truth.

I'm talking about clarity of the app and possibility to use Home Kit - NOT that it is a better overall system than Fibaro. Sorry if this was unclear.

dawiinci, but it is still just an animation

There are too many redundant icons in the Fibaro app.

Additionally I think Siri is better than Lili.

But you're right - just an animation.

dawiinci, Do not get me wrong, I will be the first one to worship the system if it delivers what is on the animation

It looks great like always with apple. But I only see a app that switch one thing or another no more.

But there are more systems like that that only can switch. Or do small other things.

And Apple is Apple so it's there way or the highway.

I like opensource / systems that are adjustable it both come's with is + and -

Homekit has it's main controller in the AppleTV right? Does this mean there is going to be way to control the Fibaro from there or do we need a dedicated AppleTV app from Fibaro as for AppleWatch, iPhone, iPad and so on?

With iOS 10, it's either AppleTV or iPad to be the 'HomeHub'.

What chaicka describe is partly correct.

If you want access / control of devices externally (i.e. 3G/4G from your mobile or outside own network) you need a AppleTV 4 or an iPad, as these will then become a HomeHub. (Alle apple devices need to update to iOS10)

For controlling devices within own network, one does not need a HomeHub like AppleTV 4 or iPad.

I have a Fibaro HC2 and some Philips HUE light with a Hue bridge (labeled "Works with Apple HomeKit"), and are able to control all my HUE bulbs from my iPhone.

I am not able to connect any of the devices "connected" to my Fibaro Home Center 2.

(there is a workaround though, buy yourself a RaspberryPi and follow this :
