4.024 - 4 "stable"

Question

Posted

I think this questions deserves a separate thread and official "how to" from fibaro - can you migrate directly from 4.024 to stable? Or do we need to go back to 3.x?

thanks

lukaszpiech, the recommended way of updating controller is to go back to 3.590 and install 3.600, which prepares system for upgrade to 4.0. It ensures clean update without any remains from previous alpha/beta versions. Possibility of update will be visible for users with beta firmwares as well, and they will be able to install it, however we advise you to make a rollback.

Just been testing that from current BETA and it has not worked very well.

Have you guys tested a number of different aged HC2s that have different recovery software version?

thanks, it is clear. However... what if I added scenes etc in later versions, like 4.019, 20 etc? They will be gone right?

everything you added in the beta's are gone

i really don't understand why we have to go back to 3.x

Because the intermediate betas may have introduced problems... As an example, I have a device in 4.024 that cannot be deleted. It was the result of the addition of a RGBW module while running 4.024. That problem is not in my 3.590 firmware. I am lucky that I can see the phantom module... It could very well been hidden in the UI but present in the database. I have no idea how the final version will respond to this phantom device... Maybe the whole conversion process crashes, maybe it's just ignored.

My initial testing indicates that you can not reliably recover and trying might break your HC2. More fun on some people's way

    it's just software,

new firmware and a check on the devices is more then enough (import devices)

it's not changing hardware, only software

(i can put my aeon z-stick in every homeseer version 2 or 3 or other software. import from the stick and it's up and running)

I gave you my personal opinion and tried to explain what I have experienced. Feel free to form your own opinion and either follow me or ignore me. All I am saying is that I can understand why Fibaro gives this advice. I'll even go one step further: I'll reset everything and start from scratch.

Not even sure about that! Will my minimote still add? Will my Everspring water sensor include? Not sure at all...

Sorry if I seem to be ignorant but was this right after recovery or after the restore?

Is the api functional or not? I also vaguely remember someone was able to login via home.fibaro.com (but not via local web interface).

After what looks like a successful recovery.

You get the login page after reboot but when you login with default values you don't ever get past the waiting graphic and all screen is greyed out.

The diagnostics screen on Beta showed recovery with 2 * OK before I ran recovery so checksum was good.
