The tidle has multi meanings depending on logic or mathematics does the tidle ~= in scene means approx equal to or not equal to? i assume approx as we already have a not equal to... also does anyone know the threshold? is it percentage of value? any thoughts?

[ Added: 2015-01-03, 23:19 ]

I currently use it for a kettle

scene1:

w > 50 then boiling

scene2:

w ~= 0 then boiled

it seems to work... but i have used it properly?

To my understanding ~= means not equal to and == means equal to.

And a single = when you want to assign a value I believe.

Please correct me if I'm wrong guys.

    Edwin's correct:

    == : equal to

    ~= : not equal to

    <= : less than or equal to

    >= : greater than or equal to

    > : greater than

    < : less than

    = : assignment for variables (number or string), which I believe in LUA you must end with ;

    To answer Dean's query ~= is useful depending on your LUA logic really but, sometimes, in my experience with other languages (where ~= is actually !=) it can just visually help to separate code....even the best coders in the world make syntax mistakes!
