NFC works with tasker and nfc tag app. One can as well use aeonlabs windows sensor, solder nfc chip and antenna and use it as well

we using it for our customers, so it is possible. How? Plugin talking to our BT/IP gateway

That is precisely what I mean. The hardware (and Debian) of the HC2 is very good capable of handling Bluetooth or other USB external devices. Why looking for separate gateways if the solution could be so simple, without spending even more money? The price of the HC2 is expensive enough for a lot of users!

backup? there is one, own email server? that works as well for our customers if requested

There is no way to back up to an external source without being some kind of computer nerd (which I am, to a certain extent

/emoticons/default_wink.png" alt=";)" srcset="https://forum.fibaro.com/uploads/emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> ) . I mean, why not the capability of storing the backup elsewhere by SMB, NFS, FTP in a user-friendly way?

About the email, just add an option to send email to a SMTP server of your choice. How hard can it be? I don't trust Fibaro anymore and I don't want to send private camera pictures to a party I don't trust.

I know the answer from Fibaro will be, 'because of security reasons'. Is that is the way they think about their customers? I don't like to be patronized. I'm well capable of making my own choices, so enable the opportunity to make them.

like every other company? nothing wrong with that.

I really hope you're kidding, right? Every company or business has a level of responsibility besides of just making money (Don't be evil...). The past has shown us what impact it has on our societies when not accounted for. The best profitable companies do have consumer relations highly valuated.

(and i'm happy as service provider to make extra money by unlocking things or implementing features on HC2 which didn't exists by default), on the other hand more open would be even greater, it would be benefit for everybody.

What do I have to do get this options, as costumer, activated? Which options are hidden in the system? Can you give examples?

Fibaro is actually working on more things, e.g. better VD, better plugin implementation, more features (and yes, on stability as well), they have better support than year ago, and there is more coming soon but i can not speak about. Everything just need some time, which is for you i think not option anymore?

I'm hearing nothing else then 'soon' for the last three years.....

tinman, I know you have another point of view as service provider. I, on the other hand as customer, find it strange the way Fibaro acts and it is offending me to a point that I decided to abandon this sinking ship.

Definitely no from me. The guys you deal with in support and devs are fantastic. The vision is still the best. I want them to succeed.

As I expected my hc2 is good again. A few minor things but after a few things cleaned from the database that were probably from the beta it is all running well.

Very pleased that downloadable recovery is evidently possible now. I hope they will make that formal with a download button for when recovery is corrupt. So that is a big improvement.

I think you are describing an other problem as well.. Looks like not all customers are treated in the same manner..

yes they do, i checked that already with good known Berlin-based IT lawyer and spoke to them on Cebit. The problem is not GNU or whatever, but local law, he told me in poland it is a bit different, in germany e.g. one can not sell gears under such e.g. warranty condition, and there is more points where one can discuss or even stop sales, sue, etc. They know that and promised a solution soon, which is, from that lawyer point of view (short said) fair enough. That GNU issue can be fixed withing 10minutes, real open system is always different type of decision (see below). Data collection is up to you, you must not use newer versions, leak of (in videos) promised features is not that big problem as one could think (it's more moral than legal, and they actually never told - except OTA which is now fixed - that something has been implemented with Fibaro products, but implemented on Fibaro system, which, as you can see above, works great if one know the system and take the chance to implement things on the HC2 itself or with 3rd part addon hardware - which is again up to resealer/enduser).

So this topic is not as useless as it appeared to be?

indeed it appears that there are some intreaguing information has surfaced in particulalr over this weekend.

I am quite anoyed that some service desk partners have access to more usefull tools than we do (i allso work in tech support which dose amongst other systems Fibaro). My usuall analysis ends up in one of 3 ways: restart the system with around 20 minutes off the power supply, restore backup, throw it in the mail and send to me or Fibaro.

that acursed google! when i asked for beter analyticall tools i did not mean ones from the devil damit! (oh how i miss 90s where bigest evil was Microsoft (Electronic Arts was on its way to the dark side but were yet to refine their Mangement driven ways) and everythign was looking like its gona be better soon). I feel very uncomfortable now knowing that google has its hand in part of what Fibaro dose it is not going to end well (hey is not Google competing company on smart home front? - should not Fibaro be worried about competition having access to their stuff?).
