Working push notifications?

Question

Posted

Since iOS 8 push notifications in the Fibaro app are broken. I already pointed to a possible solution. Since Fibaro is not capable of fixing, what alternatives do you use?

This is an essential part of a security system.

From my point off view using push for security is never reliable enough. you rather should use sms notification or a dialer that calls you when something is not supose to happen

Fibaro push is a nice add on for normal events but when security is breached you rather make use off more reliable sources.

dawiinci,

try:

1 - Try to remove the iOS application from your smartphone

2 - Remove the iOS device in "configuration panel", section "users"

3 - Install last iOS application and configure with your "home Fibaro" credentials for the first lunch.

it worked for me and for other people

Same problem here with the two iPads this working but on the iPhones it's still problem.

Also rebooted HC2 after deleteting iPhone devices from "user" gui.

Did notice that in

Please login or register to see this link.

there are different values on iPad and iPhone

iPhones shows

"properties":

{"DeviceToken":"(null)"

iPads shows

"properties":{"DeviceToken":"1a5d1f0206d037569d8400e4fcef59df97f4ec00d2d0b9198acdf15ef1c96183"

Something to do with that?

Confirm iPad works but iPhone not.

iPhone doesn't have a Token either!

    Hi, same here.

Did lost notifications some weeks ago, for some reason.

Tonight, I got my iPad 2 getting notifications again. I changed its name to something simple (no funky character, no space, no comma, no uppercase letter), changed the notification name to something simple, changed the notification text to something simple, disabled notifications on iPad, rebooted it, enabled notifications again. Something made it get notification again, don't know what. Then reverted all my changes (iPad name, notification name, notification texts), and it's still working.

Tried the same on two iPhone, with no luck.

I checked the DeviceToken fields too: Ipad has a good looking token, both iPhone have none.

Should we fill a bug about this issue? Fibaro, do you need something from us users to help getting this fixed? Please advice.

    Sincerely.

    ---

    David

dawiinci, There is a problem with push notifications after local connection on iPhone.

To make it work properly you need to:

    1. Have an account on home.fibaro.com

    2. Make steps, that Krikroff said

1 - Try to remove the iOS application from your smartphone

2 - Remove the iOS device in "configuration panel", section "users"

3 - Install last iOS application and configure with your "home Fibaro" credentials for the first lunch.

    3. Connect locally for the first time and refresh network data just to get your personal icons

    4. Go to Settings -> Choose HC -> Edit and change your ip address to something wrong (eg. put 'a' after last character), to force remote access

    5. Disconnect and connect to your HC again

And that should make them work (after changing mobile device id in scenes).

It is just temporary solution. Push notification with local access will be repaired in next app release.

Now it works. It also gets a Token. But of course the interface is now a bit slow.

    Anyway, thanks for the workaround!

When will the app fix be released?

dawiinci, After logging locally multiple times token can get broken again, so if you can live with that slower connection stick to it, if no you will most likely need to do that procedure again after some time.

Personally I use now mail instead of push messages. Yes, they are a few seconds slower (30s) but I DO get them and I have them archived.

Sometimes you get an alarm and accidentally open the app without checking what the message was and it's gone. Not speaking about not getting the messages because of weird circumstances.

AND I have a subject on Mail and do not have the cryptic HC serial as a sender because I can decide how the contact looks like.

    Just some thoughts.

Pushover works great and is instant, and you can define the messages and sounds to use for each type of message. You can even make them confirm the message for high priority messages and it will repeat until a certain time has passed or when it's confirmed.

Replace and with the API codes you get from the pushover websites, after registering and adding the appilcation. Register every device by installing the app and naming the device in the mobile app.

Any way to do this in Lua?

Please login or register to see this code.

    This doesn't work.

I want to send information about which sensor is breached. Therefore I need Lua.
