...that sounds really good.

Hopefully it will work with the HC2.

Posted

Yup, I was just looking at that.

Same here... not sure how uv support is handled in hc2 yet?

Posted

You have to put your sunglasses on first to enable that feature.

BTW , if support is like current model with false alarm and so on ...... no reason to buy it !!!!

Last summer i've got many false alarm when i was far from home (and no one in normal day usage) ...... seems that sensor and/or hc2 suffer when Humans are in vacation .... they are so jealous !!!

Aeotec is really stepping up their game with some truly nice products - I think Fibaro is more or less being left behind - I wonder if Fibaro is in some cashflow issues because a lot of the stuff they were flaunting last year at the CES has yet to materialize.

I had just ordered 5 aeotec motion sensors before I saw this - but I guess I'm going to need more anyway, and these will be perfect for when I get my ceilings renovated.

Also looking forward to their power strip and the new 6 series wall plugs! Only issue is that Fibaro probably won't add support for these devices for some months to keep up their "competitive" edge - Even though that sort of thing is very NO NO according to both EU and US legislation (just like false advertising).

Just hear...

US availability is April 2015

EU (and those countries using EU version) availability is May/June 2015

Do these look familiar?

Aeotec = Oomi = Fantem???

Hmmm... Maybe Oomi uses Aeotec-Stuff in black

Well, the Oomi/fantem CEO is a former VP with Aeon, so that might explain the similarity...

I'm not digging the black design though - unless you have black walls, it is going to stand out quite significantly - and I'm wondering how they create a black yet IR transparent lens for the motion sensor... Smells a bit like vaporware at the moment to me.

And they are still missing the point with the lug- around tablet... For me, the idea of a tablet for home automation is if it is located in the rooms where it is used - not somethimg you take with you. If you want to use a controller like this, then you need to have an extremely userfriendly automation interface for automating everything to the point where interacting with a tablet is something you do only once or twice a day or if you are changing something - and then, do you really want to spend 3-400$ on a tablet which isn't being used.

One of all these start ups really need to get their act together and focus on the automation part instead of glossy interfaces. In the perfect world you wouldn't need an interface to operate your stuff - it would just work... Automatically - isn't that really the idea of home automation?! Otherwise, the tablet is just a fanzy wall switch! I have tablets throughout the house, but they serve multiple purposes, and usually we can go days without actually touching them (except the one in the bedroom which I use to switch on night mode as I have yet to figure out a clever algoritm for night mode)

Interesting thoughts...

You tested one on HC2 Dean?

You tested one on HC2 Dean?

Yes had to test one of them and a uk greenwave 5 way extension which also did not work properly on "STABLE" 4.053

Posted

Cant comment on Aeotec (though thats disappointing) but I have a GW PN 5 way extension and it works fine?! Did take a few goes and need to set param 1 to 255 but apart from that it works flawlessly. Whats up with yours?

Dave

Posted

Param 1 to 255? I'll try that... Mine shows 4 sockets and never seems to complete configuration cycle.

Posted

Nope still the same... Either my uk version is different somehow or you added before 4.053

Posted

I also want to by this multisensor (it's available in the Netherlands), but it's a bit useless if it doesn't work with HC2.

What do you see when you included it, Dean? Or doesn't including work at all?

Posted

Pretty much the same scenario as all aeon labs devices that have not been support... 1 x main node + temp sensor at 0.00c will definitely require fibaro to add this to proceed any further!

all in all not to keen on the device now i have it... 2 x batteries required (not supplied) 2 year battery life and looks like its not as intelligent as fibaro motion sensors and is time based rather than change of value! 4 min motion etc... by default!

Time will tell... works ok in (other) test scenarios but like i say... still feel fibaro have the edge on the motion sensors!

Hi Dean, I know its a bit late but thats what happened to me. You get four devices (plus the master switch), then ....days later the fifth child appears !!! Dont ask why but it will work....eventually;)
