ZME_WALLC_S does not work

Question

Posted

Dear Forum,

I bought a ZME_WALLC_S and included it to my HC2 (4.049) and find it in the system as "Remotecontrol"

Please login or register to see this image.

/emoticons/default_icon_curve.gif" alt=":-/" />

What can I do with this device?

I see no possibility for turn on / turn off what a Switch is normally made for.

Please login or register to see this image.

/emoticons/default_icon_sad.gif" alt=":-(" />

Can anyone help me pelase?

thanks

@JanJoh thanks for trying that. The output of the device api looks good to me (of course! it works!

Please login or register to see this image.

    /emoticons/default_icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />).

@Mib you still get "productInfo":"" in that last test. And you've lost the interface "zwaveSceneActivation" so that's certainly worse then the previous attempt.

    Here are some more idea's

    - Have you tried excluding the device, then add it back right after a reboot of your HC2 (and at less than 2m distance)?

    - Maybe your battery is running low. Can you test it or replace it?

    - If everything else fails, maybe the conclusion is that it's a faulty device.

    - Do you have any devices on the home tab that display "Unconfigured"

    - Maybe something is wrong with the configuration of your HC2... and it doesn't detect the device make/model. I can't think of a way to prove that, so maybe the only option is to mail [email protected] and refer them to this thread...

    Great progress I make

I want to explain the situation. This is my test environment for the new house we are building.

I bought the HC2 in December 2014 with

    one FIB_FGWPF-101

    three FIB_FGMS-001

    one FIB_FGK-101

    one FIB_FGS-221

    one FIB_FGS-211

I started with simple scenes as motion detection, block scenes, and simple LUA scenes.

I made little progress step by step and decided to take Fibaro for our new house. I had no real probs like others here except after one update my temperature sensors started to freak out with temperatures from + 115 degrees to -30 degrees. All indoor of course.

Nothing helped and I went back to factory settings and started new with my handful sensors and switches it was not that big prob.

What I found out was that every item not made by Fibaro caused problems

    Everspring In wall Mini sensor

Vision ZP 3102 EU Motion sensor

    and now the ZME_WALLC_S ....

    In the meantime approximately

    50 FIBEFGS-222

    20 FIB_FGRM-222

    3   FIB_FGD-211

    10 FIB_FGMS-001

are built in by an professional electrician. The system seems to react properly when I get to the new house with the HC2.

There are no great programming jobs done until now. Only simple timer jobs.

I fear the day when the venetians will be delivered …

So to answer your question petergebruers

The distance of the HC2 and the device is about 80 cm

I have not tried to include it after a reboot.

I will replace the battery tomorrow

I always do a reset after excluding a device

    I have no unfigured devices

I drove to the new house today to exclude and include the switch in brotherhood of all the other beasts.

    The result was worse.

As I wrote  a few lines above  - as far as I can say every not Fibaro product acts weird with my HC2

    Thanks for your patience

    @JanJoh

did you get the values auomatically when you included the switch?

    {id: 1,lastSetValue: 2,size: 1,value: 2},

    {id: 2,lastSetValue: 2,size: 1,value: 2},

    {id: 11,lastSetValue: 4,size: 1,value: 4},

    {id: 12,lastSetValue: 4,size: 1,value: 4},

    {id: 13,lastSetValue: 4,size: 1,value: 4},

    {id: 14,lastSetValue: 4,size: 1,value: 4},

    {id: 15,lastSetValue: 0,size: 1,value: 0},

    {id: 21,lastSetValue: 1,size: 1,value: 1},

    {id: 22,lastSetValue: 0,size: 1,value: 0},

    {id: 25,lastSetValue: 1,size: 1,value: 1},

    {id: 30,lastSetValue: 1,size: 1,value: 1}

No. Those are my own settings, as outlined in

Please login or register to see this link.

I am actually not sure what the defaults are.

I included a new unit yesterday, and just slapped on the settings i use with the switch. Then i thought the api dump could be useful for the thread.

Thanks! That information is very useful to me indeed. I use the API a lot and the dump shows lot's information in one go. Some parts are available in the GUI, but some are not.

I drove to the new house today to exclude and include the switch in brotherhood of all the other beasts.

    Here are some thoughts:

    - I would recommend to include & test the device at < 2 m (so 80 cm is fine) from the HC2. That is to make sure you have a direct connection, and not a routed connection, to the HC2. Later you can move it farther away, do a "Mesh network reconfiguration" and wake up the battery powered device (that step is mandatory). If you have < 10 devices I would do a full mesh. If you have more, the reconfiguration will be slower so I'd only do the ZME_WALL-S (wake up after each reconfig).

    - Under normal circumstances, I would recommend to have at least 3 mains powered devices, no farther than 3 m away from the HC2 if the line of sight is hampered by walls, or 5 m if you have direct sight. That would in general make a fine starting mesh and would allow you to go outside the volume created by the HC2 plus the 3 device.

    - It's worth trying after a reboot.

    - It may be interesting to find out what happens if you reset (scratch) your HC2 and start with the problematic device

    - There are two ways to reset a HC2. The first is the less powerfull: "Reset Z-Wave" from the GUI. That will erase the device database from the Z-Wave chip and from the HC2, but leave the rest of the controller intact. If you want to scratch (e.g. like if you want to sell it), you have to go through "recovery" and do the same reset, followed by a firmware upgrade. You'll lose everything. If you've never done a recovery before: it's in the manual you can download on the fibaro.com website.

    - It's not necessary to do a reset when you properly exclude a device (Z-Wave says a device has to reset when excluded) under normal circumstances. But these aren't normal circumstances so I'd keep doing it.

    - It's good you don't have unconfigured devices.

One last possible explanation: maybe the firmware of the devices is different. I think we can't prove that because the version of @JanJoh is in the API result, but the versions of @Mib shows all zeroes. Unless there is some indication on the device, in the manual or on the box?

Firmware 4.051 has been released and I wonder if you could give it a try? It now offers the possibility to try in secure and non secure mode. The non secure mode is recommended, but why not try both?

How safe is it to install the Beta?

Upgrade from 4.049 to 4.051 is quite safe. At the moment I don't see big showstoppers under the 4.051 topic... Edit: I suppose you know how to do a recovery, just in case?

I Never Had to make a recovery. But i made a Backup just in case.

The way through a recovery I will make with you and the this forum - just in case.

OK the 4.0.51 Beta is running.

the ZME_WALLC_S device was excluded and included.

the ZME_WALLC_S device was reset to factory Settings.

Okay... I do recommend to boot into recovery, without actually recovering anythng. To mak sure your pen drive is OK. The explanation is in the user manual (downloadable from firbaro.com, page 138) but here's the essence:

    1. Turn the Home Center 2 OFF (single push left button at the back when you are looking at the front of the HC2). Wait until all LED off.

    2. Press and hold Learn Mode button (left button at the back when you are looking at the front of the HC). While still holding the right button, click the left button. Keep holding the Learn Mode button - diodes will turn ON sequentially, starting from the left hand side. After the LEDs are blinking, you can release the buttons. This takes less than 1/2 second. When you see the LEDs flashing, please do not hold the Learn Mode button any longer. If you hold it for too long, the HC2 will be set to "static IP" and network connection will be lost. The manual explains how to recover from this.

    3. Use the fibaro finder or your dhcp server to find the IP and connect to the web interface.

When you get this far, you know at least this part works.

    If it helps something

I have four ZME_WALLC-S working perfectly in 4,048, 4,049 and 4,051 beta with sceneActivation

In my case, jsut after the device include HC2 had to make a soft reconfigure or reconfigure device (can not remember which of the two) to be correctly configured from the master device not from slave

if I do not do this, the device does not work

Also, configuration changes had to do it the master device, changes to from the slave were not updated on the device.

well, first of all, sorry for the thread necro, but since my problem is related to all that's been discussed here, i thought i might as well add to it instead of starting another topic. 2nd of all, i'm a total newb with fibaro and home automation, and this is my first attempt to tinker with it, so...please be gentle

    /emoticons/default_tongue.png" alt=":P" srcset="https://forum.fibaro.com/uploads/emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />     anyway, here it goes:

    A) regarding the product info:0,0,0,0,0 thing, i had a similar issue. i tried countless times including/excluding the device, it still gave me 2 unconfigured devices, one being a carboard box, the other a remote. that's when it actually managed to get into the network. product info: 0,0,0,0,0. however, due to a misscommunication, i ended up buying 2 products, so in the end i tried with the 2nd wallc-s and it got included and configured from the 1st attempt. so, chances are that if the devide doesn't get configured within the first couple of attempts, the device might be deffective. at least that's what i asume.   if anyone wants me to do any trials with the 1st device, let me know and i'll give it any shots.

B)well, as i mentioned, the 2nd device was configured from the start (i did need to perform a soft reconfigure and wakeup the device while in management mode, though, tip i got from this forum, cheers for that). 1 single device, a remote.

for information, this is the default configuration i got on 4.056 for wallc-s:  (p.s. i did change the name)

    and it returns:

pressing any button on the switch = nothing happens. either if the script was started or not.

now a couple of questions, before the obvious "what's wrong with the setup and how can i make it work?":

    1) should the scene be started with "run" or should it get triggered automatically when pressing a button from the remote? in order to get the debug results, i have to press start. (from what i gathered, it should run automatically when pressing a switch button)

2)after the debug result, does the scene stop automatically, or should i press stop?

    3)parameters 11 -> 14 have the following descriptions:

what is the difference between value 4 and value 8?

thank you for your patience in reading this far and for any assistance you may offer!
