It look nice. Can you please tell, when it is out? I would like to test one.

But i cannot imagine to service that if it will be behind plasterboard (if conditions are such that is necessary to install it into wall). I donť think many customers like if installer cuts in to wall.

Very nice movie again!

So.. I need to walk to the place the "swipe" is mounted/placed.. On my way overt there I pass all the needed switches to do whatever I want I my house. (front door)

I also have my mobile phone with "tasker", and am able to control everything in my house by just shaking the phone and telling it what to do...

Besides this, all things that need to be done are automated (ie: when LUX get's to low lights will go on).

When I'm going to bed my TV will know, turn off everything needed, close the shades, turn on the alarm and put the front door in night lock.

Vice versa when I get up..

No.. For me swipe is really not needed.

Please do not get me wrong. It does look nice (WOW factor), and am sure that lot's of people will like it, and have good use for it..

Further to this comment, can someone please tell me how you actually use this?

I am also of the opinion that it appears to be extremely cool, but I struggle to see a purpose in my house.

For example: If I install it under my kitchen island work surface, yes I can control lighting, music etc, but surely as soon as I go to clean the worktop I will cause mayhem in the kitchen.

I really want to hear how people are using it.

Is it necessary to install the latest HC2 release to recognize this device or any 4.x will work?

Also, anybody knows if the swipe is ota upgradeable? I assum that there will be further sw releases for this device.

I think you will need at least 4.070

Posted

@Alex @Bricks you need 4.072 who gonna be soon converted to stable (4.080) for HC2 and HCL

Yes Swipe got OTA update

@aleks That is a part, if you use is under table it should be place where you don't use to work because device never will know is that gesture is to do action or because you wanted pick up pen

Thanks.

OTA update is a future proof guarantee therfore I will give it a try.

Hopefully 4.080 will happen simultaneously to the commercial availability of the swipe device...

and how was the delay (if any)

Sorry for the delay. In answering. Pun intended. The swipe replaces a minimote. They appear equally fast. The swipe is battery powered. In that mode, there is a faint beep to signify wake up. It wakes up really fast. USB operated, there is no wake up. I'd say it is "almost like flicking a switch".

Right, so after ~10 attempts I have managed to include my Swipe earlier tonight.

The inclusion process asks you at the end of the process to swipe upwards. Intuitively (at least for me) you want to do this during this process with the palm of your hand pointing upwards. This way it will not work I found out

/emoticons/default_wink.png" alt=";)" srcset="https://forum.fibaro.com/uploads/emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> You need to have your hand's palm facing the Swipe.. Piece of advise.

I have been playing around with it for a bit and it seems to be working fairly okay.. Need to do some more testing to make a final verdict

@Fibaro:

Something that DOES bother me though, for which I will open a new thread

Thanks for sharing!

I found it "somewhat difficult to include' too. It's a chicken and egg problem. To learn the device, you have to learn the gestures. But you have to include it to learn and for that you need to know the gestures.

I disagree about palm/hand positioning. It' more about distance from the device, where you start and how fast you move. And also if you use USB or batteries. The sensitivity also depends on conductive (and somewhat to non-conductive) material close to the device.

But now you've got the hang of it... Have fun!

I'm sorry, I didn't want to suggest you were wrong about this. In fact I wanted to confirm, that it might be a bit harder than expected, when you start with this device. But after a week or so, you'll just "wave your hand".

this is why we added our Swipes via B button on backside, sure, one have to connect for that time to USB, but it save time (especially when first time using swipe).
