Magic scenes to turn lights on and off at set times

budda

Question

What's the best way to use the new Magic Scenes capability to turn on a light at 10pm and turn it off again at 1am ?

At present i'm creating 2 magic scenes per light device which seems clumsy.

In the magic scenes options i can see options for "turn off after X minutes" and "toggle state" etc.

I also just noticed once magic scene can be conditional from another magic scene.

I've not seen much talk about this type of scene on the forum yet -- who's using it and how ?

  • use blocks

    on at xx time

    off at xx time

Do you mean creating a single Block scene to do it ? Or two block scenes?

  • 2 block scenes, you turn on and off on fixed times, so 2 scenes

So exactly the same as using Magic Blocks for 2 scenes.

Seems clumsy to me -- needing to create two scenes to switch something on and then set it to go turn back off X hours later?

you can do this in 1 scene

    light on at 20:00 houres

lamp off after 7 hours of waiting

this is a timer running for 7 hours, i guess if you reboot the hc2 in the meantime the timer will be erased and the light will not go off

i use timers only for pirs, because the time is not fixed, for fixed time scenes i always create 2, one for on and one for off
