Hi

Is SSH access available on the HC2?

I can see that sshd is running but the root password is not that same as the admin password.

As a Developer, I just need to see more of what the box is up to, is the root password a known thing?

thanks

Hello,

To clarify the situation.

Root password and SSH access are only for service works and maintenance. Only FIBARO engineers can use them and only after a user's consent.

@tinman, please do not spread misleading information. FIBARO support does not provide such information to any users.

Can the FIbaro tech team please confirm that they do not access the controller without client's consent? Having the DPI traffic monitoring enabled in my network, I am bit concerned that my Fibaro has had some SSH sessions without my knowledge. Can the Fibaro team please explain this? A screenshot of the traffic analysis is attached.

As i know, the ssh available only for support from Fibaro. You can't access the box via ssh.

each HC2/HCL have unique root password, you might ask support, i think as developer you probably will get it.

Well, they do not want to give it to us and company where i work is Fibaro distributor in CZ.

misleading? "ask .. probably" is not misleading information, but an answer for a developer (and not end-user) who ask how/where to ask/get it.

What you guys are doing with such request is completely different story, however this all depends on who asks

Hello,

You're right, I apologize for a bit too harsh response.

However, the SSH access is only for FIBARO Support. No one outside FIBARO gets such access.

How does this proces work exactly?  Can the fibaro engineers access the homecenter without the owners approval?   Or do you have to give the fibaro team a technical "ok" ?

Getting a bit worried that the fibaro team (or the hackers who penetrated the fibaro team/infrastructure) can access all the homecenters in the world without user interaction or a hard approvement.

Can you clarify?

you technically still have to open port 22 on your router pointed to your home center... you can get root access to hc2 anyway

Are you sure? The homecenter is connecting active to the fibaro heaquarter server.  It could create its own inside out connection. Like teamview only automated from within the homecenter.

Hello,

No, the Fibaro team does not have access to a gateway without user's consent and user's involvement. No need to worry about that.

yes, but this is only for remote access via home.fibaro.com, with proper rsa key exchange etc.,as T. Konopka said this does not have anything to do with SSH used by support

I want to develop some extended functions for HC2,

  • how can I access via SSH,
  • where can I found the source code of the firmware
  • how can I setup my own smtp server
  • how can I setup a ssl cert for https support

And why is that ? Eventually it is my device, which lacks of extended logging in GUI. Ie, how I can get info what scene just executed when I "pressed device" ?

You cannot. Even though there are ssh keys on the systems.. :)

  • where can I found the source code of the firmware

On Fibaro's local storage under smb://10.0.70.3/src/HC2/v4.xxx/

..No seriously, why on earth would Fibaro make their source code public?!

  • how can I setup my own smtp server

You cannot configure it.

  • how can I setup a ssl cert for https support

You cannot. However I do share the view they should include this! Just force all over https; even on lan.

Hello,

I do not get it. You create scenes and then you do not know what trigger them? I apologize, but I think that I am missing something.

Again, SSH access is only for Fibaro Support.

Say I have scene/VD  A and scene/VD B, both have a fibaro:startScene() for scene C. The question he's asking is how would he know which scene/VD called scene C?

I know you can actually add an array to startScene(id, arr), however his point is still valid. It's also worth noting that this information is not available in your API description which noone seem to have updated for months, leaving people in the dark on what is actually possible to do in lua.

The availability of logging in HC2 is atrociously bad. Currently the lack of z-wave network logs means that I have no idea why my network appears to be going crazy at the moment and I have no way of finding out. The total absence of response from Fibaro support adds insult to injury meaning people have to rely on pure guesswork when trying to debug their problems. I can assure you that had I known this before I bought it I would definitely not have bought the HC2.

@Tor, thank you. All that need to be said !!!

I had to stop all my blinds related scenes after recent update and do troubleshooting step by step.
