Question

Hi

Is SSH access available on the HC2?

I can see that sshd is running but the root password is not that same as the admin password.

As a Developer, I just need to see more of what the box is up to, is the root password a known thing?

thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your opinion! I have forwarded it to our team.

Now, I get it. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I am very dissatisfied with your fibaro support, I sent the mail a few days ago, and now reply to me. And there is no substantive help, my English is very bad, but I have tried, you have no technical support in China? Or the technical support here can not help me, because they and I encountered the same problem, please use Valley translation

Hello,

To clarify the situation.

Root password and SSH access are only for service works and maintenance. Only FIBARO engineers can use them and only after a user's consent.

@tinman, please do not spread misleading information. FIBARO support does not provide such information to any users.

Can the FIbaro tech team please confirm that they do not access the controller without client's consent? Having the DPI traffic monitoring enabled in my network, I am bit concerned that my Fibaro has had some SSH sessions without my knowledge. Can the Fibaro team please explain this? A screenshot of the traffic analysis is attached.

I think it is not unreasonable to have a Sudoers file with a publicised list of commands that Developers and Fibaro installers can access. I work for a very large Telco and this is how we allow our 3rd parties to control hosts that we do not want to give root access to.

An example of this would be reboot - I cannot count how many times my HC2 and now HC3 has become unresponsive where the web interface will not respond but I can SSH to the host. The only other option in this case is to power off and re-power on the host.

Therefore some simple commands like; reboot, restart crontab (this would help with a locked scene) access to the logs etc via sudo.

@Fibaro your thoughts please?
